The First Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door Rolls Out From The Production Line

Maruti Suzuki has commenced production for the Jimny 5-door SUV in India and the first vehicle, finished in white, has rolled out from its production line in Gurugram. Yes, we know you’re holding your horses with bated breath to bring the Jimny home, but its launch isn't far away as Maruti will announce prices for the Jimny by early June. 

The 5-door Jimny made its global debut at Auto Expo 2023 and bookings have been open ever since. In fact, response for this model has been good as it has managed to rack up over 24,500 registrations before its price announcement. The Jimny will come to India in two broad trims: Zeta and Alpha. In terms of features, the Jimny 5-door comes packing with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, keyless entry with push button start, LED headlamps with washers and a multi-info display. Passenger safety is taken care of by six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control and hill hold control.

Powering the Jimny is the carmaker’s 105PS 1.5-litre petrol engine that’s mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. It gets four-wheel drive with low range as standard for its off-roading prowess. Speaking of which, the Jimny also gets hill descent control and brake limited slip differential on both axles for helping it pass through difficult obstacles. 

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door is likely to be priced from around the Rs 10-lakh mark (ex-showroom). And it will currently lock horns with 3-door rivals such as Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha. But do note that both these models will be introduced with 5-door versions down the line.
