This RE Gear Will Get You Leh-ed

Mamma mia, did you hear, Royal Enfield has partnered with Alpinestars! Yes, in yet another brand collaboration to expand its gear and apparel line, the classic bikemaker has joined hands with the Italian riding gear manufacturer to introduce a co-branded collection you can now buy off the shelves of your local RE dealership or its online portal.

Royal Enfield has the touring legacy after all, and with the partnership, it will be able to cement its attitude as an adventure brand. Alpinestars is one of the leading names in motorcycle gear, and this collaboration will see six products on offer that include two jackets, three gloves and a riding pant. Here’s a brief walkthrough of what to expect from each model.

GRAVITY DRYSTAR RIDING JACKET

This all-season adventure touring style jacket is CE certified with a ‘CLASS A’ rating. It’s modular and the winter liner is removable but the rain liner is fixed. It is also compatible with Alpinestars Tech-Air 5 Airbag System. The jacket is constructed using 600D polyester for decent abrasion resistance and also gets CE level 2 armour over the elbows and shoulder but misses out on both a back and chest protector. Price Rs 17,500

SOLANO WATERPROOF RIDING JACKET

Solano is an urban waterproof jacket. Available in just black, comes with a detachable sleeveless thermal winter liner. It features CE Level 2 armour over the elbows and shoulder and a 600D polyester construction for abrasion resistance. It also features eight pockets and is priced at Rs 18,900.

SMX-1 V2 AIR SUMMER GLOVES
Short cuff summer gloves with a leather palm and mesh top for those hot days on the road. It gets CE Level 1 certification and hard polymer knuckle protection for safety. It gets touchscreen compatibility and velcro tabs to ensure a proper fit. These gloves are priced at Rs 5,200.

SYNCRO DRYSTAR GLOVES
If touring is on your mind, these are the gloves you’d want from this collection. Made with Alpinestars’ proprietary DRYSTAR membrane technology, you get 100 percent (claimed) waterproof protection while allowing for some breathability. You get a viscoelastic (soft armour) knuckle guard, padded palm and touchscreen compatible tips to operate your smartphone. They are priced at Rs 6,900.

GARETH LEATHER GLOVES

Made from Napa goat leather, these touring gloves are ideal for road riding and long highway hauls.
The full leather construction ensures good abrasion resistance, while the slim construction ensures the gloves fit under the jacket sleeve well. They’re waterproof thanks to Alpinestars Drystar membrane, and are CE Level 1 certified as well as touchscreen compatible. Available in black and olive, they are priced at Rs 5,200.

GRAVITY DRYSTAR RIDING TROUSERS

These are a pair of waterproof riding pants suitable for touring and road-focused adventure riding. To increase comfort you get stretch panels on the back yoke and stretch accordion panels around the knees. Made from 600D polyester and gets leather reinforcement around the seat, knee and shin areas for abrasion resistance. You also get CE Level 2 armour over the knees but will miss out on hip armor. These riding trousers are priced at Rs 14,500.

These premium products sit over RE’s in-house gear collection thanks to the collaboration and the technology involved. This isn't the first time RE has collabed with a reputable brand like Alpinestars, in fact, in the recent years we have seen them join hands with brands like Levis for riding denims and TCX for riding boots as well.
