The Hyundai Verna new generation has been gobbling all the headlines for a while now as its launch campaign is in full flow ahead of its launch on March 21. But this time around, the compact sedan makes it to the news for reasons that Hyundai might not want it to even though it's something rather inevitable as a test mule crashed into the rear of the bus.

As revealed by the image, the test mule seems to have crashed head-on into the rear of the bus, and both the vehicles have suffered visible damage. It seems like the Verna made a hole in the rear bumper of the bus, while the front end of the compact sedan suffered damage to its bumper and hood. Now, we don’t have the deets on the speed the vehicles were going before they crashed or how this accident exactly happened, so we’ll refrain from imparting any opinion about its structural rigidity by just leaning on the photo. But by the looks of it, the occupants in the test mule should be fine considering that its shell seems stable.

Before you start cooking any controversy on the functionality of ADAS in the compact sedan, note that it was likely the base variant that was on the test as reiterated by the steel wheels. If it were present, ADAS would’ve most likely avoided the incident through its auto emergency braking feature.

Now Hyundai has been a real tease with the Verna, only revealing a few details in every new teaser it puts out. But given that there have been quite a few of them now, information about the compact sedan isn’t sparse anymore, details of which can be found here. We’ve also compared how the compact sedan fares with its rivals in terms of its dimensions.

We expect Hyundai to retail the 2023 Verna from around Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards, and it’ll rival the Skoda Slavia, VW Virtus, Honda City, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
