Citroen has unveiled the C3 hatchback in Argentina, and it doesn't look a lot different from the model up for launch in India later this year. That said, it isn’t the made-in-India model, of course; the carmaker has manufactured the C3 for Argentina at its South America plant.
We start with the design. The hatch in Argentina looks exactly the same as the global-spec model unveiled in India. It gets the familiar sleek Citroen grille flanked by split-halogen headlamps. Even the body cladding, alloy wheels and tail lamps are similar to the model revealed here.
The hatchback will get multiple customization options both in Argentina and India, including the option to mix and match colours.
Save for the left-hand drive, the dashboard design is exactly the same as the India-specific model. So, while you have a straightforward dash design, you can jazz things up by opting for a colour-coordinated element running across the width. We think it’s a practical cabin with plenty of storage spaces and a large boot.
On the features front, the Citroen gets the basics right with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, manual air-con, keyless entry, and power windows. Passenger safety should be taken care of by dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors.
The powertrain options are still under covers, but we think they’ll be market-specific. In India, the hatch will likely get 1.2-litre naturally aspirated and turbocharged petrol engines, paired with manual and automatic transmissions.
In India, the Citroen C3 will likely retail from Rs 5.5 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price point, it will go up against the Tata Punch, Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite.
