BMW will be releasing the CE 02 electric scooter in India by the second half of 2024. This will be the second electric vehicle offering from the German manufacturer after the recently launched BMW CE 04 premium electric scooter.
The CE 02, like the BWM CE 04 is a premium electric scooter offering. It was built in collaboration with TVS. The scooter is manufactured by TVS at its Hosur plant and exported world wide, so the e-scooter is likely to come at a more affordable price than the CE 04, which currently comes at a price of Rs 14.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
CE 02 features a unique design and one that we haven’t seen on e-scooters that often. The design overall makes it looks quite similar to the Honda Navi. It is powered by an air-cooled synchronous motor that offers a peak power output of 11kW or 15PS. The scooter is available with 2 battery configurations, a dual 1.96 kWh battery configuration which offers a range of 90km and a single 1.96kWh configuration which offers half the range.
The e-scooter is built on a double loop steel frame and is suspended on an inverted fork and an offset monoshock. The CE 02 rolls on cast aluminum alloy wheels, with braking duties handled by disc brakes at both ends with single-channel ABS.
In terms of features, the CE 02 gets a 3.5 inch TFT display that gives essential readouts like speed, time, trip and odometer readouts. The CE 02 also offers riding modes, a reverse mode and smartphone connectivity.
The scooter could be launched at a price that is slightly above the TVS X Electric Scooter, which is currently the most expensive e-scooter from the Hosur based manufacturer. The CE 02 could come at a price that is around Rs 5 lakh ex-showroom India.
