Both Tata Safari and Sierra have been iconic Tata monikers in the automaker’s history. While the Safari is already on sale and the new version of it has gained popularity in recent years, the Sierra ICE was very recently revealed, marking the comeback of the nameplate which will first be launched in an EV version sometime later in 2025.
In this article, we take a look at their designs in detail! Giving you an idea of how the two SUVs have been styled!
The design language of both SUVs are different which gives them their own identities. With the new Sierra, Tata has inherited some of the iconic design elements of the original Sierra which gives it a retro and classic vibe.
The Safari on the other hand, boasts a more angular and curvy front end with vertically stacked LED headlamps. Overall, the fascia of the Sierra looks more macho and muscular.
In profile, the Sierra looks more boxy and also gets flush door handles as opposed to the Safari’s conventionally styled door handles. Their alloy wheel designs are also completely different and the Sierra boasts chunky wheel arches.
The Sierra gets a rectangular rear window which has the look of the iconic OG Sierra, while the Safari takes the more traditional approach.
The rear end of the Safari looks more rugged and busy with plenty of elements, while the flat rear end of the Sierra has a more minimalist design.
The Tata Sierra will be positioned in the crowded compact SUV segment. It’s expected to be priced from around Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom). This puts it in contention with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate and MG Astor. The Safari mid-size SUV is priced between Rs 15.49 lakh to Rs 26.99 lakh. It competes with SUVs like the Mahindra XUV700 and the MG Hector Plus.
