Citroen has confirmed a crossover sedan as its next offering.
Will be based on the same modular CMP platform as the C3 and C3 Aircross.
Could get the same 110PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol powertrain.
An all-electric avatar may be on the cards as well.
Will arrive in 2024.
French marque Citroen has confirmed the launch of a new crossover sedan called the C3X for the Indian market. We don’t yet have the exact details on what it will look like, but it could take cues from the C4X crossover sedan sold abroad. What we do know is that it will be Citroen’s fourth offering in the country and will be based on the CMP modular platform which underpins the C3 and C3 Aircross.
It may sport a sedan-like silhouette but with the stance of an SUV, hence a crossover sedan. And given that the design language of Citroen’s offerings in India isn’t too far from each other, expect the crossover sedan’s styling to be largely familiar. It could also get body cladding all around to give it a more rugged stance.
Even the interior may be largely similar, with a huge 10-inch touchscreen taking centre stage. As with the C3 Aircross, the crossover sedan could get a new upholstery shade to differentiate it from the rest of the lineup, but the features list could be identical as well, with equipment like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital driver’s display, steering-mounted audio controls and a rear washer and wiper.

Next, considering it will share its platform with the C3 and the C3 Aircross, it will likely get the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, making around 110PS, though it could be tweaked for an even higher output. An all-electric derivative of the crossover sedan is also expected, just like the C3 and eC3 hatchbacks.

The petrol-powered Citroen crossover sedan will arrive first – in 2024 – followed by its all-electric avatar sometime later. The crossover sedan will likely carve out a new segment, given the lack of a crossover sedan-like bodystyle this side of the Rs 70 lakh mark. That said, it may rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara and Skoda Kushaq.
