The 2023 Tata Safari facelift is the latest contender in the three-row midsize SUV segment in India. And at its price point, it serves as an alternative to many popular choices including Toyota’s Innova Hycross. If you are considering picking one of these two shortlisted cars, then this one's for you as we list out 5 things the 2023 Safari does better than the Innova Hycross.

The 2023 Tata Safari facelift features a 10.25-inch fully digital driver’s display with multiple customisations and also relays navigation from the infotainment system while using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. In contrast, the Innova Hycross is equipped with a 7-inch TFT display with analogue dials that shows plenty of information but is not as customisable as the one found in the Safari.

With the 6-seater variants of the 2023 Safari, you get ventilated seats in the first and second rows that offer more comfort while the Toyota Innova Hycross gets the same only in the front row. But the Toyota Innova Hycross gets ottoman seats in the higher-end captain seat variants that offer more comfort.

In addition to the standard safety and ADAS features, the 2023 Safari facelift includes a knee airbag (total of 7 airbags). It has also scored a full 5-star rating in Global NCAP crash tests for both adult and child protection, making it the highest-rated made-in-India car tested by Global NCAP, alongside the Harrier.
On the other hand, the Innova Hycross features ABS with EBD, 6 airbags, ADAS, and other standard safety features. Do note that the Innova Hycross is yet to be tested by an NCAP just yet.

If you want a diesel engine, your choice is limited to the 2023 Safari facelift as the Innova Hycross gets petrol and hybrid power. The Safari gets a 170PS 2-litre diesel engine, whereas with the Innova Hycross you get the choice to pick its 174PS 2-litre petrol engine or a 186PS 2-litre strong-hybrid powertrain.

Fancy shifting gears manually? Once again, your choice is the 2023 Safari facelift which gets a 6-speed manual sold alongside the 6-speed automatic. With the Innova Hycross you get only the CVT automatic transmission.
The 2023 Tata Safari facelift is priced between Rs 16.19 lakh and Rs 27.34 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Innova Hycross ranges from Rs 18.82 lakh to Rs 30.26 lakh (ex-showroom). Both also rival the Mahindra XUV700, Hyundai Alcazar, and MG Hector Plus.
