Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the second generation of its iconic SUV, the Sierra. The compact SUV’s original version was introduced to the market in 1991, and the new one borrows inspiration from the original Sierra. The Sierra will debut on November 15 and will then be launched in India on November 25, marking a new era for the iconic nameplate.
Tata Motors showcased a near-production concept at the Auto Expo 2025. Let’s take a closer look at how the Sierra has evolved from its concept version to its production version.
As we mentioned earlier, Tata Motors only showcased the near-production version of the Sierra ICE, and the design hasn’t evolved significantly either. From the front, it looks very similar to the same blacked-out grille, connected LED DRL, Sierra lettering, as well as flat bumpers. Even the placement of the ADAS sensors and fog lamps is the same as the concept shown at the Auto Expo.

From the sides, the only major difference is the design of the alloy wheels. The wheels on the production version seem larger than the ones from the Expo, but it could be that mid-spec variants could get the Expo version’s alloy wheels. Overall, the design is very similar to the concept and even the OG Sierra from the 90s. Tata Motors has done a good job incorporating the Alpine windows of the OG Sierra with the design language of the new one, despite it being a 5-door SUV.

Tata Motors was quite shy at the Auto Expo by showcasing only the top half of the Sierra Concept’s interior. That showed a free-standing unit for the triple-screen layout with AC vents at the bottom of the middle screen. Surprise, surprise, Tata Motors didn’t change that layout in any way for the production version. The Sierra’s production will have the same touch-based AC panel that is seen on the Harrier, Safari, Nexon and other new Tata Motors’ models.

Like the concept, the production version is also equipped with Tata Motors’ new illuminated steering wheel with a four-spoke design, as seen on the Harrier and Safari.

The Sierra will also come with features like a panoramic sunroof, a bench for the second row, dual-zone climate control, powered & ventilated front seats, multiple drive modes, a 360-degree camera and a panoramic sunroof.
The triple-screen layout is expected to get three 12.3-inch screens. One will be for the driver’s display, the middle one will be the infotainment touchscreen, and the third will be for the passenger’s entertainment. You can also expect a digital rear-view mirror, as seen on the new Harrier EV, too.

The new Tata Sierra will go head against products like the Hyundai Creta, new-gen Seltos, Maruti Victoris, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, MG Astor, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, as well as the upcoming Nissan Tekton and the much-awaited 2026 Renault Duster.
It is expected to be introduced in India at a starting price of Rs 15 Lakh, while the range could top around the Rs 25 Lakh mark.

Even if you compare the production version with the Auto Expo concept, Tata Motors hasn’t veered too far off. Furthermore, compared with the Sierra EV concept showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo, the production version of the ICE Sierra retains all the major design elements that made us fall in love with it.
Overall, kudos to Tata Motors for keeping the ethos of the OG Sierra alive with the latest Sierra. We can’t wait to see them on the roads.
