With the rising pollution levels and fuel prices, the industry is witnessing a massive shift towards electrification. This transition is aided by the Central Government’s FAME 2 subsidy, resulting in a surge in sales of electric bikes as well as electric scooters. But the Rs 10,000 crore allocated for this (valid up to March 2024) is running out, so the government has resorted to reducing the subsidy from June 1, 2023.
