Electric scooters are what’s trending right now, and auto manufacturers are doing their best to come up with e-scooters that are not only feature-packed but also have interesting designs. VinFast, a Vietnamese auto manufacturer, has the Theon S up its sleeve, which looks like an Okinawa Okhi90 alternative.
The VinFast Theon S gets a commuter-based design with minimalist body panels. The front of the e-scooter gets twin LED projector headlights stacked vertically that might remind you of the Ducati 999. The floorboard panel, meanwhile, extends all the way to the swingarm, an interesting, though polarising, look.
Powering the Theon S is a 7.1kW central motor connected to the rear wheel using a chain drive, paired to a twin Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack with a combined capacity of 3.5kWh. Vinfast claims the Theon can reach a top speed of 99kmph, while offering a range of 150km. It takes about six hours to completely juice up the batteries.
In terms of underpinnings, the e-scooter features a telescopic fork and dual shock absorbers suspension setup. For braking, it gets discs at both ends with the safety net of dual channel ABS. It rolls on 16-inch alloy wheels, a quirk it shares with the Okinawa Okhi90.
For a convenient, user-friendly riding experience, the e-scooter features a digital LCD instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity which displays information like speed, battery percentage, battery temperature and an odometer. It also features two ride modes: eco and sport, a smart key with anti-theft function, full LED lighting, and a 24-litre underseat storage.
The VinFast Theon S is priced at an equivalent of Rs 2.37 lakh, and will not be making its way to our shores. That said, you can check out the Okinawa Okhi90 and its rivals like the TVS iQube Electric, Ola S1 Pro, Bajaj Chetak, Simple One and Ather 450X available here in India.
