Quick Highlights
MG Windsor EV spotted testing in Mumbai.
We get a glimpse of its interior, revealing the large touchscreen unit
It will likely be launched with a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment, 8.8-inch digital driver’s display and ADAS.
Previous teaser also confirmed a panoramic glass roof.
It will make its India debut on September 11.
The Windsor EV will rival the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400
MG Windsor EV has already been spied testing under heavy camouflage on multiple occasions ahead of its September 11 India debut. The latest spy shots give a peek into the interior, revealing its large infotainment system, which seems to be similar to the 15.6-inch unit seen in the International version of the car.
The Windsor EV will be the automaker’s third electric offering in India and will be offered with multiple premium features, some of which have been revealed in previous teasers and spy shots. Let’s take a look at what’s expected from MG’s upcoming mass market EV:
The Windsor EV will be positioned between the Comet EV and ZS EV in MG’s India EV lineup. It will sport modern design elements such as connected lights, a funky set of aerodynamic wheels and LED lighting. The previous spy shots have confirmed that it will be getting a large panoramic glass roof and a recline angle of up to 135 degree for the rear seats, which is the highest recline angle for any mass market vehicle. Both these features are also a first in its segment and is something which we only get to see on more premium cars.
In terms of features, it is expected to get a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 8.8-inch digital driver’s display, powered front seats, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, cruise control, a wireless phone charger, multi-colour ambient lighting and a wireless phone charger.

Safety features will likely include multiple ADAS features, six airbags, ESC, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera.
Powertrain specifications for the upcoming India model have not been revealed yet. However, the International model comes with a 50.6 kWh battery pack paired with an electric motor that produces 134 PS. It offers a China Light Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC) claimed range of 460 km. In other foreign markets, it is also available with a smaller 37.9 kWh battery pack which offers a claimed 360 km of range.
We expect MG to price the Windsor EV around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price, it will rival SUVs like the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400 and lower variants of the Tata Curvv EV. It will also be an EV alternative to compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Honda Elevate.
