Two stations already installed on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada and Delhi-Chandigarh highways.
Plans to install a total of 10 chargers throughout key Indian highway locations by mid-2023.
These charging stations will be manned and available for all EV users 24x7.
Hyundai and its partner ChargeZone have installed two DC ultra-fast EV charging stations between the Hyderabad-Vijayawada and Delhi-Chandigarh highways. In doing so, Hyundai has become the first OEM to provide public chargers with ultra-high charging speeds that can optimally charge long-range EVs such as the Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. The two installed stations will be functional from February 1, and the carmaker plans to further install eight stations before mid-2023
These stations will consist of one DC 150 kW ultra-fast charger and one DC 60 kW high-speed charger. The 150kW charger can be used to top up the Ioniq 5 from 10% to 80% charge in just 21 minutes. For reference, the Ioniq 5 comes with a 72.6kWh battery pack that offers up to 631km of range (ARAI).
The actual charging time varies for different models and depends on factors such as battery size and the EV’s peak allowed DC charging rate.
The charging stations run by Hyundai and ChargeZone stations will pop up between important highways such as Hyderabad-Vijayawada, Delhi-Chandigarh, Delhi-Jaipur, Mumbai-Pune and Bengaluru-Chennai. All of these will be accompanied by a helper and will be available for all EV owners to use 24x7.
