It has the biggest battery pack and motor that we have seen on an E-scooter

  • 9.5kW mid-drive motor in the top-spec Pro Max variant.
  • Claimed 200km range on Pro-X and Pro Max variants.
  • 5.4kWh removable battery for the mid and top variants.
  • Electron Pro Max

Hyderabad-based Electron Electric Motors has quietly launched the Electron e-scooter in three variants– Pro, Pro-X, and Pro-Max. The company had commenced pre-bookings for the product for Rs 499. However, the electric scooter is already out of stock, and the claimed delivery timeline is six months for customers.

The Electron Pro’s styling is quite unique compared to what the Indian market has to offer right now. Its design seems angular – boxy, even –  and is a more futuristic take on a maxi-scooter. Right from the tall windscreen, the long saddle, the highway floorboard and even the prominent central spine, everything is just what you would see on a maxi-scooter. And thankfully, the styling is backed by performance.

Electron Electric Motors has used an IP67-rated mid-drive motor with a final chain drive. The top-spec Pro Max variant packs a 9.6kW motor while the Pro-X and the Pro variants feature 8.5kW and 7kW motors respectively. While the performance numbers have not been revealed, the top variant can sprint from 0-40kmph in a claimed 2.5 seconds, while the base variant takes a second longer. For perspective, the Ola S1 Pro takes a claimed 3 seconds while the Ather 450X claims 3.3 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 40kmph.

The Electron Pro’s motor is backed by a decent battery pack too. While the base variant gets a 2.7kWh lithium-ion battery, the mid-spec and top variants get two units with a combined capacity of 5.4kWh and a promised range of 200km.

The performance is complemented by equally apt hardware. This electric scooter sports a telescopic fork and dual shock absorber, while braking has been entrusted to petal discs at both ends with a combined braking system for the base and mid-spec variant while the top-spec scooter gets dual-channel ABS.

There are a bunch of futuristic features as well. From keyless ignition, bluetooth connectivity with audio control, to a tyre pressure monitor, the Electron Pro has it all. There’s even Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on this e-scooter.

Electron Electric Motors has kept the launch a hush-hush affair, and at the moment, the availability and the exact pricing is not available. Moreover, while the Pro retails for Rs 1,19,980, the Pro X costs Rs 1,59,997 and Pro Max retails for Rs 1,79,990. However, there isn’t a clear picture on whether the quoted prices include subsidies or not. Nevertheless, it is very close to the Ather 450X and the Ola S1 Pro, in terms of features and packs more performance than what we have seen so far in the EV market.
