This Electric Scooter Has A Claimed Top Speed Of 200kmph!

  • Horwin Europe GmbH is a subsidiary of Horwin Global.
  • The Austrian bike maker first entered the market in 2019 with the CR6 Pro electric bike.
  • The Senmenti 0 is the first model from Horwin Global.
  • The 400 volt battery can be charged at any car charging station.
  • To stand out in the global electric two-wheeler market, EV manufacturers need to come up with something new and different. Horwin Global seems to have nailed the brief. The Austrian bike maker has unveiled its first electric maxi-scooter at EICMA 2022. While the overall design points towards a maxi-scooter, the brand insists that this is an electric motorcycle. And for good reason.

You see, the new chassis, motor and battery set a new benchmark in the segment. For starters, the new drive system consisting of the motor and battery hold a voltage capacity of 400 volts, good enough to enable customers to charge the scooter via a large car fast charger. This effectively translates to a 0-80 percent charge in just over 30 minutes. You can also use the e-scooter to charge camping equipment or even other e-vehicles.

The company may be a bit discreet with some of the numbers, but it does give us a taste of what the scooter is capable of. For instance, the Senmenti 0 can touch a claimed top speed of 200kmph, with a 0-100kmph time of just 2.8 seconds – as quick as the 2023 Ducati Diavel V4. So you see where the ‘e-motorcycle’ reference comes from.

The next mind-boggling number is the range. Horwin claims the Senmenti 0 offers 300 kilometres on a single charge, while averaging speeds of 88kmph! It also adapts automatically to its rider's driving style, thereby improving efficiency and range. Sounds too good to be true, to be honest. Hopefully, these numbers will be verified by the summer of 2023.

But the list doesn’t end there. The scooter also comes packed to the gills with electronics. It features radar with collision warning at the front and rear, three riding modes, and lean-sensitive ABS and traction control. You also get a tyre pressure display as standard. Other notable features include keyless ignition, hill-climb and reserve assist, a Bluetooth-enabled TFT display and a dedicated camera on board that captures images while riding. Adding to the exhaustive list are a pair of heated grips and seats and an adjustable windshield for better wind protection.

In terms of underpinnings, the Senmenti 0 rides on 15-inch wheels wrapped in a 120-section tyre up front and a 160-section unit at the back, with disc brakes at both ends. Moreover the rear suspension is a unique air suspension system with three steps of adjustability for rebound damping.

Horwin plans to get the e-scooter on sale in Europe by mid 2023. If the production version is anywhere similar to the concept shown, then it will truly be a gamechanger. Horwin also showcased a concept e-bike called the SENMENTI X at EICMA. It features a separate self-balancing function which stabilises itself while driving, thereby improving safety.
