TAG Heuer launches limited edition

With the Indian Grand Prix scheduled in just a few months from now, the adrenaline rush with enthusiasts is increasing by the second. TAG Heuer has launched its limited edition watch for such thoroughbreds.

The official timekeeper of Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile or more commonly known as the FIA, TAG Heuer launched its limited edition TAG Heuer Carrera Tachymeter Chronograph watch. The exclusivity of this watch is not only the mechanics involved in it, it’s the insignia of the Buddh International Racing Circuit which would host India’s first F1 race.

The watch also contains a small layout of the circuit along with the ‘B’ logo. “Three years ago, we had land acquisition issues, but, we finally got the site in Greater Noida, UP. The whole circuit has a total of 16 different kinds of turns that will test the skill of the driver and the car,” said Sameer Gaur, MD & CEO, Jaypee Sports International Limited.

The 5.14 kilometer track is soon to be inspected by FIA before the go-ahead for the F1 is given. “By September, we would have all the green signals on the circuit and we, as a team, are confident of the effort that we have put into it,” added Sameer.

A pure collector’s item for the enthusiast, the watch will commemorate the F1 circuit with its logo as well as a saffron centre hand and stitching of the leather strap with a saffron thread. The tie-up also shows the efforts being made to promote F1 in India.

Accompanied with Sameer Gaur were Manishi Sanwal, General Manager, Indian Subcontinent, LMVH Watch and Jewellery India Pvt. Ltd and Shahrukh Khan, but, the star of the show was none other than Carrera Watch. The carrera series is made for precision and accuracy to the level of 1/100000th of a second.
Whether it was Horse Races time keeping in the early 1880s or the Mikrograph and Microsplit in 1916, or the Pre Monza Chronograph in 1933, legends like Jackie Ickx, Clay Ragazzoni, Ronnie Peterson, Alan Prost and none other than Artyon Senna believed in the precisionof TAG Heuer.
“After the F1, we will see how enthusiasts respond to the F1. We would then take our vision of making another track forward. After the F1, we will open the track for people who would want to try their cars out. This would decrease the illegal street racing that happens throughout the city. A complete safety inspection of the cars would be done before they are let loose on the track,” said Sameer.
The 200 pieces will be available for sale in the month of September and a booking procedure will be initiated soon.
