Jeep India is set to take the wraps off the India-spec Meridian on March 29. While the SUV’s images have already been revealed before, its entire design, technical specifications, and features for the Indian market will be announced tomorrow. So without further ado, here’s what we know about Jeep’s upcoming SUV in five points.
Exterior Design

Though the Meridian might be a Compass derivative, there is no direct hint about the smaller SUV in its exterior design. In fact, the Meridian borrows plenty of elements from the larger Grand Cherokee, lending an air of premiumness. Traditional touches like the 7-slat grille and upright butch design are present, while sleek connected LED tail lamps infuse a tinge of modernity.
Interior Design
While the exterior might have limited resemblance with the Compass, the interior does as the dashboard is exactly the same, save for the different black/brown colour scheme. But the highlight has to be the addition of a third row, and by the looks of it, seems to be best suited for kids and your pet. Our detailed feedback on this front will be addressed soon, so stay tuned.
Features Onboard
the automobile community
The features list is largely expected to mimic the Compass, including a 10.1-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver’s display, panoramic sunroof, powered front seats with ventilation, a branded audio system, wireless phone charger, and powered tailgate.
The Brazil-spec version of the same SUV, Commander, gets Alexa in-vehicle functions, a 10-speaker 450W Harman Kardon sound system, and ADAS. We are keeping our fingers crossed to see these features in the India-specific model.
Engine Options
Jeep has confirmed three diesel-only powertrain options for the Meridian at launch. The mainstay of the range for now will be the 2-litre diesel, while Steallantis’ new 1.3-litre turbo-petrol could be added later. Manual and automatic transmissions are likely to be offered with both engines, while the diesel could get all-wheel drive as well.
Expected Price And Rivals

The Meridian is likely to be priced from around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it in the same range as the Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner, and MG Gloster.
