The Ameo on the whole is a pretty nice car, especially when you consider the equipment you get for the money you pay along with the fact that it is a Volkswagen, and is thus a very well-engineered car. Build quality and quality of materials used is pretty good, which gives the Ameo a more premium feel. What’s more, it is a familiar looking car though that’s something which works in its favor but could also be a bit of a turn off for some. Not a deal breaker though, especially since it drives well, has a good balance of ride and handling, and of course the fact that this car has been made specifically for India. The Ameo is not a boot-pasted Polo. With the kind of built quality on offer along with potent engines under its hood, this sub-compact sedan from Volkswagen does stand out. Yes, it does reflect Polo’s identity but that again is not a bad thing at all. "With a host of class leading features along with a mouth watering price tag, the Ameo makes for an amazing package. Considering its competitive price-point with regards to the several class-leading features on offer, it makes its own identity in this mass-runner segment. Ameo offers a solution to buyers who are looking to upgrade to a car that offers a premium look and feel at a price point that doesn’t put a big hole into their pockets. The Ameo can be a great compact sedan to own if build quality, performance, features and value rank high on your priority list. The Ameo has a big, for some deal breaking, fault - the rear seats are the most cramped in its class. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test drive in order to clear your all doubts. The Ameo can be a great compact sedan to own if build quality, performance, features and value rank high on your priority list. The Ameo has a big, for some deal breaking, fault - the rear seats are the most cramped in its class. The top-of-the-line Highline variant comes fully loaded with segment-first features which help the Ameo match some executive sedans as well. The Ameo Highline is loaded to the gills. The Ameo Highline powered by the diesel motor costs Rs 8.59 and the sedan powered by the petrol engine costs Rs 7.35 lakh. The price difference for jumping from the Comfortline variant to the Highline variant is about Rs 1.01 lakh for the petrol version and Rs 81,000 for the diesel. Those looking for some extra oomph can opt for the ‘Plus’ variant, which can be bought by paying extra Rs 10,000, as it gets larger 16-inch alloy wheels. The automatic transmission is available at a premium of Rs 1.30 lakh for the Highline variants and Rs 10,000 for the Highline Plus variant. These variants make a lot of sense for those who don’t want to purchase a C-segment sedan but want something more compact with all the features on tap.

  • Q. Hi, planning to get Auto Gear for daily commute. My travel distance will be only 20km/day is it advisable to go in for Ameo TDI DSG (diesel) or Vento TSI DSG (petrol). My budget is 15l, I am already using Maruti Ciaz Smart Hydrid.

As the daily running is on the lower side, we'd recommend opting for the Volkswagen Vento 1.2 TSI Highline Plus AT variant. Volkswagen Vento automatic comes with a 1.2L TSI petrol engine that churns out 105PS of power and is coupled with a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The engine returns a claimed mileage of 18.19 km/l. For more, we'd recommend taking a test drive of the car and get yourself acquainted with the performance and comfort of the car. Follow the link for New Car Showrooms.

This car never stopped or you can say never let down in terms of power, speed, pick up & rest all fields related to the engine. VW Ameo offers good built quality with good fit and finish also it's a "German Engineering" undoubtedly. Maintenance cost is high and resale value is low. If build quality, performance, features and value rank high on your priority list then VW Ameo is the car to go for.

  • Q. Hi I am in govt service at NCR I have to travel once in a months near about 500 to 600 km to my home town in Rajasthan. I am from middle class family and my salary is around 50 k . Should I go for Ameo petrol version or should I go for new Maruti Swift VXi?
    Zigwheels
    Zigwheels | 7 months ago

Volkswagen Ameo is a sedan whereas the Maruti Swift is a hatchback as both the cars have there own forte. The Ameo is available in two engine options a 1-litre petrol engine and a 1.2-litre petrol engine whereas the Maruti Swift is offered with a single 1.2-litre petrol engine option. When it comes to the fuel economy the Maruti Swift petrol has an ARAI tested mileage of 22Kmpl as compared to Ameo's 19.44 kmpl.Volkswagen Ameo gets the front seats from the Polo and is height adjustable for the driver. The Ameo is more spacious than the Polo in terms of rear legroom as it is a compact sedan. If we talk about talk driver's, there is a lot of headspace even for a six-foot-tall passenger. Ride quality is a little stiff but then Volkswagen cars have always catered to the customer who preferred handling over ride quality. On the other hand, Maruti Swift is based on the Heartect platform with better dynamic package than before and provided with additional room in the cabin as well. Swift feels more confident and very controlled on the road. Over very rough surfaces, you feel the thuds clearly in the cabin. If you are looking for a car with better mileage and good agility Maruti Swift would be a better option but if you are looking for a Sedan with all the luxurious features and a slightly better build quality the German Ameo has no match. Moreover, we would suggest you take a test drive of both the cars so that you may evaluate the cars on the basis of your outlook toward the drive quality, features and comfort individually.Click here for Dealership: https://www.zigwheels.com/dealers

  • Q. I am looking for petrol automatic sub-4 metre sedan. Which one should I buy Honda Amaze or Volkswagen Ameo? Which is a better option?
    Zigwheels
    Zigwheels | 3 months ago

Between the Volkswagen Ameo and Honda Amaze, we'd recommend opting for the Japanese carmaker Honda if you are looking for a petrol-powered sedan as the 1.0-litre petrol engine (76PS) in Ameo feels underpowered when compared to the competition while the 1.2-litre petrol engine of Honda Amaze has an output of 90PS. Apart from that, Amaze feels really amazing when it comes to the driveability and cabin space as it gets comfortable front & rear seats, smooth & refined engine, noiseless suspension, largest-in-segment luggage compartment, etc. As for the features, Honda Amaze comes equipped with 7-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, cruise control, rear parking camera support, passive keyless entry with push-button engine start-stop, etc. among the higher variants. Moreover, we'd recommend taking a test drive of the car for a better insight into the performance, comfort and compatibility. Follow the link for dealership details - Honda Car Showrooms

  • Q. Hello, Planning to buy Ameo Highline Plus DSG Automatic. Kindly give me reviews as well as on-road price and in which Year. It will help me a lot to bargain also.

    Ankur | 11 months ago

On road price depends on where you live or wherever you are buying the vehicle from.I got mine in December 2017. Mine is Petrol Highline +; You will get DSG gearbox in AMEO only in diesel variant. To drive it is a fantastic car (In it's price range it is one of the best). Thanks to the DSG dear box the gear shifts are just like sportscars with minimum power drop and microseconds gap between gear shifts.Straight line high speed Stability, Handling, Cornering Stability, effectiveness of the Brakes (With ABS) if wonderful.Surprisingly the maintenance cost is not high or exorbitant like people usually complaint about VW or Skoda cars. The service costs are higher than maruti or hyundai but the service intervals are longer. So that balances out the overall cost of services in 2-3 years time. The only place where you might end up spending a lot is in times of damages where you are unable to get the insurance claims. Because the replacement cost of all the outer body parts are much higher than in marutis or hyundai cars.Typical annual service cost comes around 8000 rs. and if you maintain the hygiene of the car, you won't have to pay anything other than the basic service costs. I owned a Polo before this car and personal experience is till 50000 kms I only had 3 paid services and only other parts replaced were the brake pads and tyres at around 30,000 kms.For bargain purposes, you always have some or the other offer going on in VW so just be alert about those. I got Rs. 30,000 discount when I purchased mine.

  • Q. I am planning to buy Ameo 1.5 Disel Automatic. Anyboby can share there experience about Ameo Automatic. What is average
    Zigwheels
    Zigwheels | 11 months ago

With the updated 1.5-litre TDi diesel engine sitting happily in the engine bay. Volkswagen has gone the whole hog and offered the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic as well. Looks like a fool-proof plan on paper then. The 7-speed DSG is known for lightning quick shifts and this is no different. Compared to its other automatic rivals, such as the Dzire and the Zest (that feature AMTs), the Ameo's gearbox feels centuries ahead in terms of refinement and response. Keep the weight of the right foot in check, and it will upshift at a smidge over 2000rpm, and chug along in seventh gear at speeds as low as 75kmph. There's also a delicious flipside to the gearbox. Slot it into 'S' and it pokes all the 110 horses at once. It will hold on to revs right up to where the punchy mid-range ends and hurl itself towards the horizon questionably quickly. The Ameo is easily among the fastest compact diesel sedans we've driven, with the Ford Aspire coming in a close second. At the risk of stating the obvious, efficiency will take a beating in Sports mode, so don't get too carried away at the streetlight drags.
