I'm using liva since 2012 and one thing I must share is that I drive it on my reflexes only. If you drive in proper recommended way, 300-400 km driving is just a fun. I have done it so many times without getting tired. It never shivers even at 120-140 kmph (on express highways). In city goes smooth in crowd @5-10 kmph. The shape in terms of driving comfort is so good that I do never care if the front part is passed in a narrow situation, the rear portion passes away as a rule. There is no unnecessary elevation to touch other vehicles on road. AC vents position is best and optimally designed. The looks and shape may be not be as good as i20 or Baleno. The interiors and light body may not be very exciting in comparison to others. But driving comfort is cheerful. I have Baleno too since last 3 years but still feel addicted to liva. The low maintenance cost is only around 3000 per year for first 5 years and slightly higher after that is an additional tension-free experience. On other cars it becomes a big headache, I got three different rates on same authorised workshop of maruti when I sent my driver for same routine service. He was smart enough to save further after negotiation when the work was completed. Still it was 1.5 times higher than what we still have pay to Toyota.

Pls try test drive of i20, tata Tiago, ford freestyle and maruti swift before making a call to buy Toyota liva or any other vehicle. Ford freestyle is most stable and convinient option after Tiago - tiago's build quality and engine power (pickup) is better. Maruti's petrol engines are most refined and fuel efficiant ones. i20 is a better package with right mix of features and space and marginal maitenance. Polo is best when it comes to build quality and engine performance. Toyota Liva pros: top class braking and safety. World class engine. Long term low maintenance. Comfirtable rear seats. Great discounts these days. Toyota Liva cons: Low fuel economy. Less features compared to other cars. Noise insulation is poor (engine and road). Yaris batchback will come so Liva will stop after couple of years BUT its parts will be made available for next 10 years at least - just check qualis on road which stopped 15 years ago. Please make sure to note that petrol engines (normal charged ones and not turbo) are not performers i.e. less speed and pickup etc. On the other hand diesel cars are for driving pleasure and high speeds but maintenance is high. Ask any driver about Toyota cars if you want to hear real feedback. Toyota Liva diesel is the best option from long term where as i20 is best option in India looking at space, comfirt and features and maintenance all aspects. Though I own Liva still my vote will either go to i20 or polo. The only but biggest flaw of polo is high maintenance and spare parts not being available in open market. Maruti cars are not safe but best in terms of fuel economy. From a long term perspective maintenance and engine refinement-performance matters a lot than fancy features. I learnt this after driving for more than 1.50 lakhs kms in cars. Toyota liva petrol V dual tone or V anniversary edition with 35k to 40k discount is best buy from long term. Congrats in advance and happy motoring !!!

Toyota Etios is one of the underrated Hatch back with best cabin space which will surely make the long drives comfortable. No doubt the tourist operators / passenger prefer Toyota Liva & Toyota Etios in their respective segment. Supported with Toyota economical service back & quality, it is wise decision to buy one.

Yes Liva is very good for long drives. Especially driver n passanger comfort and safety is at its best in almost all Toyota cars. Non stop 400 kms is no pain at all, driver feels nice after spending around 6 to 7 hours in the cabin - trust me thats more than enough for a hatchback.

  • Q. Hi Is Toyota Petrol is Good. My usage is Low I prefer petrol, What will be practical mileage in city and Highway - Etios Liva?
    Sumit
    Sumit | 1 year ago

My friends who drove for more than 5 years get 13 in city with moderate traffic (Pune) and 16 on highways. I did complete 2000 kms in my 1.5 months old liva V dual tone petrol; I get 12.5 in city and 15 on highway. In petrol segment Liva is one of the most affordable and reliable car. But if you are looking for better mileage and looking for fancy features like engine heat meter and avg meter and black interiors etc. then swift VXI scores higher. I find liva more stable on highway that other friend's petrol car like swift and figo petrol. Dual tone V anniversary edition comes with extra features and decent dashboard. Overall my parameters were safety, 5 seater hatchback and most reliable and lowest maintenance car so I chosen Liva over swift, figo, polo etc.

Both Ford Figo Diesel and Toyota Etios Liva diesel will be good if you drive 2000-3000 km. You won't face any issue with these engines. Figo gets a 1.5-litre diesel engine that makes 100PS of power, whereas, Etios Liva is available with a 1.4-litre diesel engine that churns out 68PS of maximum power. So if you are looking for a punchier engine with better power and mileage figures, then you may opt for Ford Figo.
