  • Q. Which petrol version has alloy wheel? And may I know whether petrol or diesel which one would you prefer - Platinum Etios?
    Zigwheels
    Zigwheels | 9 months ago

Alloy wheels start available from Toyota Platinum Etios 1.5 VX. Moreover, if you are travelling less than 50-60km a day, opt for a petrol car instead of a diesel. With the extra Rs 1-1.50 lakh spent on a diesel purchase, you can actually drive a similar petrol car for as many as two years! So, do your math carefully. A diesel usually makes sense if you are driving above 60/70km a day.

What's particularly impressive about the Platinum Etios is the improvement in NVH levels. The thick insulation under the bonnet keeps the noise at bay. The motor is as tractable as ever, and has a tremendous amount of shove low down the rev range. Output remains unchanged at 68PS and 170Nm, which seems just about adequate for the saloon. Toyota has been marked with the best after sales service network & their products are by Toyota dependable quality, service network and affordable parts. The Toyota Etios makes sense for those who prefer space and practicality over everything else. The 1.5-litre petrol is smooth and the 1.4-litre diesel is dependable. As experts we have no doubts about the Etios being a comfortable family road-tripper & it definitely knows how to keep the wallet happy.

  • Q. Is 67bhp and 170 nm torque enough for Platinum Etios? It is not having much power than its compatitors, does it feels powerful?

    Premnath | 5 months ago

Its felt to be under powered with full complement of passengers and luggage with AC. But you can always drive in low gears and tap the engine power around 2000 rpm then it will be ok. You need to understand the vehicle and its engine characteristics to have a satisfactory drive, In short you need to be patient and then you can get good results without much of engine noise.

Low maintenance.Great riding comfort of sedanRugged built as suspension and steering assembly can take a little bit of offroading yet remain undisturbed.Tyre wear is nominal.Slightly underpowered when AC is on.Very reliable and sturdy engine for gruelling hill drives. Advice: Upto 10,000 Kms engine heat will be there so after a drive or if time permits in long drives allow good to be opened for rapid cooling of engine block. This helps in proper annealing of engine parts thereby allowing for proper setting which will result in higher mileage than what company states as 16.70 km/lit if petrol. Mileage in long drive including mild hilly terrain with engine at not more than 2000 rpm using Indian oil "Xtrapremium" or HP "Speed" was 19 km to the litre. Air filter should be regularly checked and replaced for good results and performance. Good roomy vehicle. Comfortably seats three at the rear.

  • Q. Is Etios VD diesel worth the price?

While the updates do make the Etios a more compelling package, the biggest talking point this time around is safety. Dual airbags and anti-lock brakes are now standard across the Etios range, which is a welcome move. It also gets ISOFIX mounts on the rear bench for the child seat. Toyota has gone a step ahead and reinforced the chassis; so it will fare better in a crash too as it scored a four-star rating in a crash test conducted by the Global NCAP. Yes, there's a lot missing on the feature list when you compare it to, say, an equivalently priced compact sedan. But, in exchange, you get a full-sized saloon that can accommodate five and their luggage, an efficient motor, and the backing of Toyota's fabled reliability. The selection here completely depends on one's choice and preference, do take the test drive of the car in order to clear all your doubts.
