Mahindra Thar Specifications

The Mahindra Thar off-roader SUV comes with three engine options: a 118PS/300Nm 1.5-litre diesel, a 130PS/300Nm 2.2-litre diesel and a 150PS/320Nm 2.0-litre turbo petrol. The 1.5-litre diesel and 2-litre turbo-petrol can be had with rear-wheel drive, while the turbo-petrol and larger diesel engine are offered with four-wheel drive. A 6-speed manual is offered as standard, however, the automatic option is limited to the 2-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines. The Thar boasts a water wading ability of 650mm, an approach angle of 41.8 degree, departure angle of 36.8 degree and rampover angle of 27 degree. It’s underpinned by a ladder frame chassis and sits on independent double wishbone suspension at the front and multi link coil springs at the rear.

Mahindra Thar Features

The Thar packs a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment which features off-road stats, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, roof mounted speakers, manual air conditioner, steering mounted audio controls, a multi-info display, power windows and keyless entry. Mahindra offers it with safety features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control and a roll cage. The Thar boasts a Global NCAP crash test score of four stars.

High safety and amazing performer

The safety in Mahindra Thar is very high with high score in the safety but gives body roll. The engine is refined and in the city it is very enjoyable and is a very different SUV and the feel of this car is excellent. It offers a lot in good pricing and is a very awsome car to drive and is a winner car from Mahindra but the comfort is not good in the rear seat. The cabin is noise free and i am using petrol engine and the ground clearance is outstanding and the handling is decent.

It is my Mahindra's beast, the Thar is an all terrain and a rugged SUV that also offers impressive off-road functionalities. Its practical and boxy shape is both functional and aesthetic, while the spacious and comfortable place is a pleasure to drive. The Thar packs a powerful engine along with a variety of convenient features, which make it a good choice for adventurers. What stands out is its durability, reliability and affordability, however the long waiting period is the real issue. The Mahindra Thar is a great SUV that meets its purpose without any compromise.

Off-Roading with Mahindra Thar

Owning a Mahindra Thar has always been a dream and living with it turned out to be an exhilarating tale of adventure and freedom. Its robust 2.0 liter turbocharged engine generating a handsome 150 PS of power has been a reliable companion on both city roads and rugged terrains. The all wheel drive and the locking differentials mean the Thar effortlessly tackles off road challenges makes it a true off roader's favourite.Yet, with great power comes... a bumpy ride. The rugged suspension setup, while perfect for off roading, makes my city drives less comfortable.

My cousin recently purchased the Mahindra Thar and took me for a spin. While its rugged style and off-road capabilities impressed me, the fuel efficiency left something to be desired. The manual transmission felt smooth, and the all-wheel drive provided excellent traction on rough terrain. However, in urban settings, its bulky build made parking a challenge. Despite its shortcomings in mileage and city maneuverability, the Thar shines on highways and off-road adventures, making it a great choice for adventurous souls.
