I'm using the manual version of XUV. Driving at 100kmph on highway in average traffic conditions pushes the mileage upto 14+ and driving beyond 120+ then its 11.50

  • Q. How is the new Mahindra XUV500 automatic? Any issues with AT transmission? Is it a good buy?

The automatic transmission is smooth and fairly efficient as well but it’s been tuned to shift up gears very early, and even in manual mode it won’t allow you to rev over 3400rpm. This is really never a problem while driving normally, but just limits its flat-out acceleration to 100kmph, a task it completes in 12.98 seconds. Kickdown (20-80kmph) takes 7.75 seconds and the automatic, while not lightning quick, works well with the torque-loaded engine to make overtakes a breeze. As far as NVH levels are concerned, they are well controlled and the engine noise is only audible in the cabin when revved beyond 2,500 rpm. However, the same cannot be said for the Bridgestone Ecopia tyres which emit a lot of rolling noise with some of it making its way inside cabin. But that still isn’t bothersome and can be washed away with the audio system. Do take a test drive in order to clear all your doubts. • Q. I am a daily highway user and my present car is i20 Active 2015 diesel I drove 122000 km in 3 years and this is how my usage will be. Planning to upgrade to an diesel automatic, confused between Creta and XUV500? I am so interested in XUV 500 W11(O), mileage anything around 11-13 is okay for me and maintenence is not an issue for me but I am worried about the quality of XUV 500 and heard some suspension issues are still present in 2018 model. So I am totally confused between XUV500 W11(O) and Creta AT SX?

I owned XUV500 since 2014, never had a suspension issue, anyway the company gives 3+2 years of warranty, I don’t see there will be any issue. I use it in city driving, highway driving, and some light off-roading. On highways I’ve done up to 1200KMs in about 18-19 hours, except some breaks here and there I mostly drive non-stop, that’s how comfortable it is. Happy hunting Warm regards!
