The new second generation Maruti Ertiga is powered by a brand new 1.5-litre petrol engine that makes 105PS of max power and 138Nm of peak torque. The diesel motor continues to be the same 1.3-litre unit that makes 89PS of maximum power and 200Nm of peak torque. Both the engines are mated to a 5-speed MT, while the petrol engine is available with a 4-speed automatic transmission as well. The claimed mileage figures for the new Ertiga are 19.34kmpl (petrol MT), 18.69kmpl (petrol AT) and 25.47kmpl (Diesel MT). The Maruti Ertiga Handles well on the bad road as well, thanks to its 180mm ground clearance. Maruti has looked after the aggressive ergonomics of the 2nd gen Maruti Ertiga and it seems to be worked out pretty well.

My 2014 Ertiga did 195 kmpl on Agra Delhi expressway , it was smooth . My dad didn't even knew I was doing 195 until I overtook a vehicle ! It's completely stable at high speeds and the abs works amazingly..And his reaction after it was epic tooHe thought some guy was standing in the middle of the expressway . I am cutting out the abuses that I heard later :-P

No issues with previous generation facelift version. We travel very frequently from Khanna to Faridabad around 320 km with 5 on board and lots of luggage. Performance wise its enough, only the initial turbo lag which might sometimes irritates you.

It has never let me down in terms of speed .. however yes the thurst in the beginning is slow.. but once it is up... it is good.. mileage you can expect up to 18-19 km/litre in city

For rural conditions it's fine just remember it gets long wheelbase so you might end up scraping the belly. For engine I can only say if you have high running go for diesel.
