Both cars are beautiful and maintenance of yaris may be cheaper.. Since i own honda city automatic, i know that it can be handled well easily but little costly maintenance as the service cycle is of three months....I will not say anything bad for any of the two cars but honda has little edge. yaris is even otherwise not the true competitor as it is cheaper than city.

Better placed then YarisThe quality and value difference between two cars isn't too big.. but for above reasons I suggest city... Though personally I want to drive Toyota now as I have city and city runs like butter on hot pan. Yaris has an official 175mm ground clearance. I own this car and only under really bad offroad conditions does the underbody scrape. I’ll rate it really high over the other sedans and hatchbacks but a bit lower than SUVs. The real ground clearance rating would be Hatchback/sedan - 6/10Yaris - 8.5/10Compact SUV like Creta - 9.5/10

I drive a Manual, so Manual for me. Automatics are only good for bumper to bumper to bumper traffic (which is a big consideration for a daily commute) and make driving easier to learn. Since the Yaris is a Toyota, its engine is detuned for mileage and longevity and sacrifices speed. To overcome this, you have to have a Manual, as you can then drop a gear to get torque to speed up. Having said that, it is astonishingly quick after 50 kmh even in 5th gear, you can get to 100 kmh in no time if you are not careful. The Manual is also very forgiving esp. if you are used to driving Marutis like Swift etc., since it allows you to drop to 10 kmh even in 4th gear without shuddering. Basically you can potter around in the city all day long in 4th and 5th gears and use the 3rd gear to get that extra speed when needed.
