Maruti Ciaz 2018 Overview
The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz remains the most popular sedan in its category despite both the Honda City and Hyundai Verna receiving significant updates to make them seem more value for money. And now, the carmaker has officially teased the Ciaz facelift which confirms the cosmetic changes that were inferred from the spy pictures. The 2018 Maruti Ciaz is expected to launch in late August with the prices seeing a minor hike.

The Ciaz facelift will be comprehensive enough to stand out among the likes of the LED-heavy City and the modern-looking Verna. Changes expected include a new front grille, redesign headlamps with LED DRLs, LED taillamps and stylish alloy wheels. The ‘S’ variant could feature a different body kit too, which will include new skirts at the front, side and rear, along with a new rear spoiler.
Inside, the Ciaz will get a major update to make it feel more premium - the seats, doors, roof lining and materials will be upgraded to achieve this. Also updated will be the two digital screens; the driver information screen in the instrument cluster will showcase more information, possibly using the same colour display as on the Ignis. The large 7-inch Smartplay touchscreen infotainment system will feature the latest update which gives it Android Auto connectivity apart from the previously available Apple CarPlay and in-built navigation system.
Maruti could bow down to the pressure of demand from customers and offer the new Ciaz with a sunroof too -- both the City and Verna offer this feature. In terms of mechanicals, the Ciaz is expected to continue using the 88PS/200Nm 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged DDiS diesel engine and the 91PS/130Nm, 4-cylinder, VVT petrol engine paired to manual transmissions like before.
There are reports which suggest that Maruti will replace the age-old 4-speed automatic transmission currently paired to the petrol engine with a new CVT, while the diesel engine could be paired with a 5-speed AMT to make it more attractive. There are also speculations that the facelift could be offered with larger 1.5-litre engines but the chances of that happening seem slim for now. If Maruti does make these changes, expect the prices of the Ciaz to increase significantly. The car is currently priced from Rs 7.77 lakh to 11.55 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.
