About Mahindra XUV500

The Mahindra XUV500 is the company’s premium seven-seater crossover positioned just above the Mahindra Scorpio and is priced between Rs. 11.47 lakh and Rs. 16.37 lakh. It offers six variants right now in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations, powered by 2.2 litre diesel engines and six-speed manual transmissions. The Mahindra XUV500 is an alternative choice to MUVs such as the Toyota Innova and Tata Hexa and it also competes with premium crossovers and SUVs such as the Tata Safari Storme, Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano. It has a claimed fuel efficiency of 16 kmpl.

Mahindra XUV500 Overview

The Mahindra XUV500 has been discontinued in the country. It was launched a decade back in 2011, and it was the first Mahindra to be built on a monocoque platform. It came with 2.2-litre petrol and diesel engines, paired with a front-wheel drivetrain (and an optional all-wheel drive with the diesel). The XUV500 nameplate will come back as a compact SUV in the future rivalling the Hyundai Creta.

Q. What is the service cost of Mahindra XUV500?
  • For this, we'd suggest you please visit the nearest authorized service centre of Mahindra as they would be able to assist you. Follow the link and select your city accordingly for service centers.
Q. Do Mahindra XUV series have rusting problem?
  • It would be unfair to give a verdict here as the issues may arise in any vehicle. Mostly, it depends on the storage care and maintenance of the vehicle. If you timely service your car, store it properly and take precautions then you would not face any such issues.
Q. I am getting very low mileage in my XUV500 W10. How to improve?
  • In order to improve the mileage, we would suggest you ride slower. Riding fast can reduce your fuel efficiency by up to 33% if you are traveling above 60 kmph. It is best to change gears appropriately and match the gear and the RPM carefully. To get the most out of every litre of fuel accelerate gently, get to the highest gear as quickly as possible and then maintain a steady speed. Avoid jackrabbit or rapid starts while waiting at a red light and, of course, turn off the ignition if you’re stopping for over 20 seconds.
  • Use 5th gear for speed upto 110 and be modest on accelerator and pick gradual speed. Using this theory I have achieved an average of 15 and top mileage of 18.

Q. Shall I wait for xuv400 or buy xuv300 now? I’m planning on buying xuv300 w8(o) diesel. Or should I consider other options.
  • It would be too early to give a verdict as Mahindra XUV 400 is not launched yet. And, if we talk about Mahindra’s XUV300 is easily the brand’s best sub-4 meter SUV yet. It’s got the style and the substance to make your heart want it, but your head might think otherwise looking at the space on offer. Mahindra XUV300 is currently available in Petrol and Diesel engines. The 1197 cc Petrol engine generates a power of 108.6bhp@5000rpm and torque of 200Nm@2000-3500rpm. The 1497 cc Diesel engine generates a power of 115bhp@3750rpm and torque of 300Nm@1500-2500rpm. Mahindra XUV300 is available in both Manual
Q. Unable to update the navigation.?

  • Yes
Q. Whether these Cng/gasoline / lpg/ npg options would be provided by Mahindra?
  • As of now, Mahindra launch cars with only petrol and diesel fuel type. So we would suggest you to stay tuned for the updates.

  • Decent Car

It's a decent vehicle, although it can be a bit cumbersome for city driving on occasion. It provides a fuel economy of approximately 13-14 kilometers per liter in the city and 17 kilometers per liter on the highway. The only significant issue I've encountered is a power loss caused by modulator failure, which incurred a cost of around 3k, including labor. The vehicle has comfortable seats and ample space, although the last row is quite cramped. If you use the last row, there won't be any room left for luggage. The suspension is notably subpar. The infotainment system encountered early failures, and the repair or replacement costs are substantial. Additionally, there were some metal fatigue noises experienced on hilly roads. Overall, it's a decent vehicle if you take good care of it.
