- All three cars are good in their forte. Kia Sonet looks curvy and powerful. Lots of variants to choose from and proper automatics too. Like the Seltos the interiors don't disappoint. The new update brings four airbags and TPMS as standard. Six airbags are now available on more models too. Some premium features and transmissions have also trickled down to lower variants. On the other hand, the Seltos continues to impress with added standard safety and claimed better ride quality. It is a vehicle you can’t go wrong with. Because of its high wow factor, it attracts a lot of attention. More importantly, it backs it up with a solid and sensible personality too. And Tata Nexon looks better, feels more premium on the inside, and now has a feature list to walk shoulder to shoulder with much of the competition. Reasons to buy the Nexon, however, remain the same i.e. its 5-star safety, ride comfort, sound system, rear seat space, and value-for-money mid variants. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test drive before making the final decision. Follow the link and select your desired city for dealership details.

The petrol engine has a low service cost, more life span, generally have a well-controlled NVH level, and is cheaper in cost than diesel engines. - Both the cars are good in their forte. Ford EcoSport could be a better option if you prefer drivability and handling abilities over features. The EcoSport offers brilliant handling traits and is one of the most fun to SUVs. If you’re going to be spending most of your time behind the wheel, the EcoSport is the sub-4 meter SUV to go for. The EcoSport, with its tight handling, ensures that it’s one of the most fun-to-drive SUVs in the segment. Whereas, the Sonet is an impressive SUV with lots of features, attractive styling, lots of variants to choose from and multiple powertrain options. It is impressive, even more so than the Seltos, as it delivers a palpably richer experience in a smaller package and in a more price-sensitive segment. - Selecting between the Kia Sonet and Maruti XL6 would depend on certain factors such as your budget, preference of the segment, usage of the car, features required, etc. The Sonet is an impressive SUV with lots of features, attractive styling, lots of variants to choose from and multiple powertrain options. It is impressive, even more so than the Seltos, as it delivers a palpably richer experience in a smaller package and in a more price-sensitive segment. On the other hand, the XL6 is a good option for a large family looking for one car that could do it all. Maruti has done enough with the XL6 to distinguish it from the Ertiga but a few more wow features and a better safety package would have made it an irresistible package. For a better understanding of compatibility and riding comfort, we would suggest you to take a test drive. Follow the link and select your desired city for dealership details. - The iMT transmission is as frugal and exciting to use as the manual transmissions and all of this without the hassle of working out your left leg seals the deal. The DCT offers pure convenience while the manual gearbox scores high on the fun-to-drive factor. The recently introduced iMT variant, where you need to shift gears manually while the duty of your left leg is handled by a couple of sensors and actuators, tries to offer both in one single package. The DCT transmission with its more complex and seamless dual-clutch mechanism delivers pure performance in gearshifts. While the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines are offered with a manual transmission, the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol gets the iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) clutchless manual only. Automatic transmission options are only available for the 1.5-litre diesel and 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engines, with the diesel option utilising a proper 6-speed torque converter and a 7-speed DCT for the turbo petrol.

A dual-clutch transmission (DCT) (sometimes referred to as a twin-clutch transmission or double-clutch transmission) operates via several in-built computers. These computers eliminate the need for the driver to manually change gears and the entire process is automated. In this respect, a DCT can be looked upon as being similar to an automatic transmission. The main difference is that the DCT operates the odd and even gear numbers separately, which prevents the engine from being disengaged from interrupted power flow when the gears are changed. - Disclaimer : Slightly long answer and also my first post.. The 1 litre turbo engine is no doubt the best in segment. its powerful, frugal, smooth revving, has a wide torque band(172Nm) and also refined. the ivtec petrol engine on the other hand is a 1.5 litre naturally aspirates engine with just around 140 Nm of torque. Do note that insurance cost rises if a car has an engine capacity above 1000cc. I have read only positive comments so far and it seems pretty reliable. However ivtec has been on the market for a long time and is pretty reliable and also powerful. My pick would be the 1litre turbo as its more powerful thou. If reliability >> performance go for city, city is also a bigger car while sonet has more features for the priceHovewer, One thing to beware is that sonet is yet to be given for NCAP, and its bigger brother (India-spec seltos) itself has scored only 3 stars. And another point to note is that sonet is just based on a slightly bigger santro platform. If you are ok with the safety aspects, go for the korean brand. IF safety is all you ever need, then go for a nexon, harrier, or xuv300..Happy car shopping!!!

However, the Volkswagen Polo has ditched the 7-speed DSG and is offered with a 6-speed torque converter instead. The Polo is powered by a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol motor making 110PS and 175Nm. The new Polo TSI, with its 6-speed manual transmission, does the 0-100kmph run in 9.66s. However, the new Polo has a similar or even stronger performance than the Polo 1.2 TSI that was offered with the 7-speed DSG. On the other hand, Kia Sonet gets a 1.0-litre turbo petrol that puts out 120PS of power. The engine offers likeable performance, however, the iMT offered with the turbo-engine makes more sense. For everyday driving, the iMT could deliver a better driving experience at a fraction of the cost, as the DCT isn’t a very snappy unit. In the 0-100kmph times, as claimed by Kia, the iMT is only a second slower than the DCT, 12.3 vs 11.3 seconds. I have the gtx plus petrol, it struggles in steep climb and does wheel spin also. I prefer my manual car if I am to go to hilly areas.
- Yes, Kia Sonet comes equipped with a sunroof.

- Kia offers the Sonet in three petrol automatic variants: HTK Plus Turbo DCT, GTX Plus Turbo DCT and GTX Plus Turbo DCT DT priced in the range of Rs. 10.49 - 12.99 Lakh. You may check out the following article for more details: Here’s What You’ll Get In Each Kia Sonet Variant.
- Kia Sonet Diesel AT is powered by a 1493 cc engine which puts out 113.43bhp@4000rpm of power and 250nm@1500-2750rpm of torque. The diesel-auto would make for a great companion as a daily driver or for a long journey. That’s because the torque makes upping the pace a breezy affair, be it at city speeds or on the highway. The smooth and unhurried shifts of the gearbox deliver a sense of premiumness, but for highway stints, you do wish it was a touch faster. Thankfully, the torque masks this shortcoming well, and its 0-100kmph time of 11.8 seconds shows that it is only a few tenths slower than the turbo-petrol and DCT combo. The manual does the same run in an admirable 12.3 seconds (claimed). If we talk about its mileage, it returns a certified mileage of 19.0 kmpl. Moreover, we'd recommend taking a test drive of the car for a better insight into the performance, comfort, and compatibility. Follow the link for dealership details - Car Showrooms.
- Kia Sonet offers comfortable ride quality and the iMT transmission offers likeable performance. There is no head-nod as the system juggles the speed and force of clutch engagement, and the engine revs to give you superb shifts. For everyday driving, the iMT could deliver a better driving experience at a fraction of the cost. In terms of fuel efficiency, the iMT delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 18.2kmpl. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test ride for a better understanding of performance and comfort. Click on the link and select your desired city for dealership details.
- If you are ok with best mileage of 8kmpl 11kmpl mileage then go for it. Worst mileage car so far I have driven especially in petrol. I heard friends getting 20kmpl in diesel thought of getting 15kmpl atleast in petrol but I am completely dissatisfied with petrol.

- Ok,thanks
- I recently bought a Kia Sonet diesel Manual model just because of its good fuel efficiency, where the company has claimed 24 ARAI. But I never got a mileage of 20 with the best driving skills even on the highway and in city, it's very bad, which gives me around 13 and highway 16. my question is then when will I get 24, if not 24 at least 20? I feel Kia is cheating, if we consider the other vendors like Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, and Mahindra, I have experienced their mileage practically, with these vehicles, even in a city the mileage drops around 3-4 from their actual ARAI, and on the highway, the best mileage is obtained. Now we should really think about this because fuel prices are getting high and we plan for the best fuel efficiency vehicles, I suggest KIA is not included in this list. If KIA SONET is claiming 24 mileage of diesel manual, then I feel even in city it should give at least 18-20 and highway 22+ at least. but these numbers never reached. @KiaInd

- All these cars are good enough. There’s very little to hold against Kia’s Sonet. It could do with more cabin width to seat five better, and also add at least one more variant for the automatic transmission. An aspect where not just the Sonet but Kia themselves as a manufacturer needs to prove their long term reliability and dependability. The Sonet is ticking all the right boxes otherwise. It’s delivering on the wow factor with pukka mini-SUV looks, quality interiors and a feature list that’d make you question paying a premium for larger SUVs. It’s being sensible and practical too, with loads of cubby holes and a large boot. You get proper automatics, and the engines on offer cover a wide range of usage. Kia’s Sonet is rewiring our expectations from sub-4-metre SUVs. It’s proving that a small vehicle can be big on experience. The Tata Nexon has made a lot of improvements in this facelift. It looks better, feels more premium on the inside and now has a feature list to walk shoulder to shoulder with much of the competition. Reasons to buy the Nexon however remain the same: its 5 star safety, ride comfort, the sound system, rear seat space and value for money mid variants. Where the Nexon fails to impress is its powertrain and the cabin practicality. The petrol engine, though powerful, feels less refined and isn't happy to be pushed. Also, Nexon is offering an AMT automatic at this price point, where the competition is offering torque converters or even DCTs. The cabin storage for everyday items is still lacking. And the new steering and instrument cluster are unable to better the driver's experience. Overall, though it is a better Nexon, it fails to hit it out of the park. Minor bugbears aside, the Nexon continues to be a sensible small SUV for the family. It does become the default choice if you want space for five and their luggage, and a comfortable ride. However, if it's polish and latest tech you're after, the Nexon might feel a little rough around the edges. If we talk about Nissan Magnite, at its introductory price of Rs 4.99 lakh - Rs 9.35 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the Nissan Magnite is a very tempting proposition and takes a different position vs its many rivals. This pricing will be applicable only till 31 December but along with that, this package does have some compromises too. For example, the cabin experience isn’t rich and fitment quality is of a budget grade. Many buyers do believe that SUV = diesel power and that isn’t an option that you get here either. Also, while it does get a turbo petrol engine, it isn’t complemented with a driving dynamics package that’s particularly exciting. Of course, Nissan’s sales and service network is also going into revival mode and its rivals have a clear upper hand here. Simply put, if you want the most premium and sophisticated pick from the segment, the Magnite probably isn’t for you. But if you want an SUV that’s spacious, practical, well loaded and comfortable to drive, all delivered at a price tag that’s serious value for money, the Magnite is certainly worth considering. You may compare all these cars accordingly. Do take a test drive in order to get better clarity. Check out authorised dealership details.
- This guy only has a budget of 8 lakhs and you are really recommending Sonet??? Sonet uses some diffferent engines for their lower variants which this guy is preferred to buy. And I don't think this non-turbo engine (Smartstream 1.2L petrol) can carry a heavy car like Sonet in the long run. So, I would prefer you to buy Magnite or Kiger. Even Nexon's base variant almost comes with that price and it has a 1.5L turbo-petrol engine! You're actually getting the same engine used in the top variant of Nexon!!! Nexon is the complete package if you consider -safety, build quality, better spacing & comfort, premium and good quality accesories- as primary concern. It is true that it lacks some features but those features are too fancy to be compared with the build quality. Like, these fancy features can even be installed through aftermarket but not the build quality. Also the service cost is also far less than Nissan, Kia or Renault. Hope it helps :)
- Going by elimination-Sonet because of service network and so because of parts, though features are best in class and again as more and more customers are looking for safety -sonet doesn't score as much as others, magnite as it lacks one of the most sought features like sunroof even on top variant and again service network are under revival and Nissan parts are generally costlier at last it comes nexon -balanced car if going for petrol and feature wise as even top variant is under 13 on road for petrol variant.safety we all know ,its best among 3, boot space next to sonet, Ground clearance again best in segment, music system -you will find reason to be inside car , in general overall value for money car
- You may have 17-inch wheels installed in the Kia Sonet. Manufacturers do offers some space if in case the user wants to upgrade the tyres or wheels. - Kia Sonet is the only car that is available with iMT among these three. Kia Sonet is ticking all the right boxes otherwise. It’s being sensible and practical too, with loads of cubby holes and a large boot. Do take a test drive in order to get better clarity. Check out authorised dealership details.

- If we talk about Kia Sonet, it is tuned for comfort. That’s pretty much the ride and handling package of the Sonet. In itself, the suspension battles harsh road surfaces, surface level changes and potholes with confidence. What amplifies this confidence is the insulation. You hear little of the tyre and road surface, making you believe the ride is plusher. Large craters at low speeds are shrugged off with little side-to-side movement. Over sharp edges and expansion joints, you’d notice some vertical movement before the suspension settles. This never gets tiresome though, even on fast expressways. Both the steering and braking performance seem par for the course. The steering is light enough for city duties and weighs up enough for the highways. Enthusiasts could harp on about wanting more feedback, but for the Sonet’s intended use it does just fine. It holds its line well (albeit with slight body roll) and lets you have some cornering fun in the twisties. On the other hand, you feel confident while driving the XUV, thanks to the steering. It has three modes - Normal, Comfort and Sport -, which change the weight of the steering. These do not change how quickly the vehicle actually turns, so we preferred the light but precise and direct feel of Comfort. The suspension also makes the XUV300 feel composed at high speeds, even over poor roads. The brakes provide a safe and secure feel while slowing down too. In the city, the way the suspension reduces the impact of the potholes is also satisfying. Do take a test drive for better clarity. Check out authorised dealership details.

While on steep hills, you may simply put the car in first gear while holding the brakes and then work the accelerator and brakes in conjunction in order to move the car forward.
- Yes. I agree completely. HTX variant - IMT without hill hold doesn't make any sense. Why can't KIA implement that feature in car that costs around 11.6 L on road. is
- Yes Kia should call back all imt htx model and fix the hill assist problem or before selling the car they should mention it to customer

- Kia Sonet looks sure to raise the bar a fair few notches for the segment. It gets three engine options: an 83PS 1.2-litre petrol, a 120PS 1.0-litre turbo petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine in 100PS (MT) and 115PS (AT) states of tune. Automatic transmission options are only available for the 1.5-litre diesel and 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engines, with the diesel option utilising a proper 6-speed torque converter, unlike its rivals which come with an AMT and a 7-speed DCT with the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol. The only bones we have to pick with the Sonet are with its variant mix, wherein features such as alloy wheels are offered only on the top two variants. Also, automatic options are restricted to two variants. This severely limits choices for the buyer. For everyday driving, the iMT could deliver a better driving experience at a fraction of the cost. There’s a fun factor to the iMT too as it rev-matches when shifting down the gears, which will get you in the mood to hustle. - Kia Sonet is available with a 1.5-litre diesel engine which is offered in two states of tune: 100PS/240Nm when combined with the 6-speed manual or the Seltos-spec 115PS/250Nm when combined with the 6-speed torque converter. The auto is a unique offering in the segment, bringing the sophistication and smoothness of a “proper” automatic to this class. In auto, the smooth and unhurried shifts of the gearbox deliver a sense of premiumness, but for highway stints, you do wish it was a touch faster. Thankfully, the torque masks this shortcoming well and the 0-100kmph mark is achieved in 11.8 seconds. The manual does the same run in an admirable 12.3 seconds (claimed). The diesel-auto would make for a great companion as a daily driver or for a long journey. For a better understanding of compatibility and drive comfort, we would suggest you to take a test drive. - Kia Sonet is available with three engine options: an 83PS 1.2-litre petrol, a 120PS 1.0-litre turbo petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine in 100PS (MT) and 115PS (AT) states of tune. Out of which, the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol gets the iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) clutchless manual transmission, while the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines are offered with a conventional manual transmission.
- Fire up the three-cylinder engine, and it comes to life with a slight shake and stir you’d feel on the floorboard. Post that, you’ll have next to nothing to complain about. Surprisingly, this doesn’t have much to do with the engine itself. Kia has beefed up the insulation on the Sonet and used different engine mounts to tackle the noise and vibrations. The engine itself is versatile, as we’ve seen in the Venue and the Verna. While the numbers suggest a sporty demeanour, it’s clearly tuned to make everyday usability hassle free. Get past the slight lag under 1500rpm, and the engine will be happy commuting around town in second or third, or cruising at triple digits in sixth or seventh gear. GT line variants are available with iMT and DCt in petrol version. The iMT is tuned brilliantly, and is a cost-effective solution that not only takes the sting out of bumper-to-bumper commutes but also keeps the fun intact around twisties. Through gear changes, the operation of the clutch is smoother than most drivers that call themselves enthusiasts. Much like the Venue, momentarily lifting your foot off the accelerator (as you would do in a manual) while upshifting makes the experience seamless. There’s no headnod or jerks to speak of. We’d urge you to experience it just for the sheer novelty and ease of use. The Sonet’s 7-speed DCT doesn’t particularly shine. It simply gets the job done. You’d be underwhelmed if you compared it to say Volkswagen’s DSG. That said, you would appreciate that the shifts are super smooth, and it’s rare that the gearbox gets confused or selects the wrong gear. You get a manual mode in case you want sprightlier acceleration, but there are no paddle shifters on offer. Do take a test drive in order to get better clarity. Check out authorised dealership details.
- The 1.5-litre diesel engine in Kia Sonet can be had either with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter. The iMT is only available with a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine.
- Sunroof gives the car a premium feel both exterior and interior. It gives such an amazing experience that only after owning the car, one would understand! - A sunroof is considered as a premium feature which enhances the look of a car and the primary advantage of having a sunroof is that it lets in more natural light than what the regular glass area would provide making the cabin feel more spacious and airy.
- As of now, Kia Sonet has not gone for the Global NCAP crash tests. Stay hooked with ZigWheels for further updates.
- Both cars are good enough and have their own forte. Both cars are capable enough for city and highway drive. However, XUV300 Diesel is more powerful punchy, fun to drive, and offers better high-speed stability. If we talk about ride quality both offer great ride quality. However, Sonet is a bit more smooth to drive. In terms of comfort both cars are good enough however, Sonet offers a better rear-seat comfort as compared to XUV300. If we talk about Safety, XUV300 is a clear winner here. It is the safest car in India at its price. Mahindra XUV300 and Kia Sonet Diesel deliver claimed mileage of 20kmpl and 24.1 kmpl respectively. There is around Rs.1.8 lakh difference between both selected variants. However, you get better features list in XUV300. If we talk about the resale value it will depend on, KM driver, the physical condition of the car, insurance history, how it is driven and maintained etc. You may comoare both cars accordingly. - Selecting a perfect car depends on various factors such as budget, preference of the brand, maintenance costs, ride quality, features required, etc. Moreover, selecting the right fuel type depends on your utility and average running of the car. If you drive less then 50km in a day then we recommend you to go with a petrol car as they are easy to maintain, have a longer life span and they cost less initially then the diesel car. On the other hand, diesel cars are preferred if the average daily run is more than 50km which makes it feasible purchase. The Mahindra XUV 300 is the best sub-4 metre SUV from the brand yet. The SUV offers great ride quality, a torquey diesel engine and a good amount of features, however, your head might think otherwise looking at the space on offer. On the other hand, the Nexon boasts brilliant build quality, an attractive design, and a strong safety package. With the revised looks, more powerful engine and added features, it surely needs to be on the top of your consideration list. Lastly, the Kia Sonet makes a strong case for itself with its butch looks, multiple powertrain options, an extensive list of features and premium quality interiors. It is impressive, even more so than the Seltos, as it delivers a palpably richer experience in a smaller package and in a more price-sensitive segment. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test ride before making the final decision. - Every car can't be an off-roader just because of its segment and the same here goes with the Kia Sonet. It shares its engines with the Hyundai Venue: 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel, these engines are very much capable to offer you a comfort drive on highways and in the city but when its comes to off-roading it won't perform according to your expectations. Though the car can tackle the under-construction road sites and hill trips but expecting it to perform like Thar would not satisfy the decision.
- Yes, Kia Sonet GTX Plus variant comes equipped with hill start assist function.
- If you are not on a limited budget, then we would suggest you to opt for the GTX+ variant of the Kia Sonet. The GTX+ variant packs all the bells and whistles that Sonet has to offer including six airbags, wireless phone charging, sporty alloy pedals, front parking sensors, traction control, hill start assist, etc. Moreover, it not only gets slight design tweaks compared to the HT Line variants, but also gets additional kit over the top-spec HTX+ variant. - Kia Sonet offers a spacious cabin and good leg room at the rear seats, however, limited rear-seat width limits usability as a 5-seater. For two occupants, even six-footers, the Sonet will be plenty spacious. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test drive for a better understanding of comfort and compatibility. - Traditional Automatic Transmission(AT), also known as a torque-converter, this automatic transmission is one of the most common types of gearboxes that can be found on budget as well as expensive luxury cars. Instead of a clutch this gearbox uses a torque converter to spool up the power and it also has smooth and relatively quick gearshifts. The application for this gearbox is quite widespread. On the other hand, A dual-clutch transmission(DCT) uses two separate shafts with their own clutches for gear shifts: one shaft for odd-numbered gears and the other for even-numbered gears. This type of automatic transmission is purely a performance-oriented transmission that also delivers good fuel efficiency but comes at a penalty of higher manufacturing cost. If a problem arises they are also expensive to maintain. In case of Sonet, DCT is available with a turbocharged petrol engine and AT is available with a naturally aspirated Diesel Engine. If your daily car usage is less and want a fun to drive car, you may go for Sonet DCT. The Sonet is currently the only vehicle to offer a proper torque converter paired with a diesel motor in a segment that offers just AMTs. As a bonus, you also get the Seltos’ engine tune with an additional 15PS of power and 10Nm. This drivetrain is best appreciated on long highway trips, where you’d want to cover over 500km a day. The smooth (but slightly slow) shifts from the automatic will keep fatigue at bay, while the diesel engine will ensure the wallet is happy by being frugal. For city usage, it feels responsive thanks to all that torque the engine has to offer. Do take a test ride in order to get better clarity. Check out authorised dealership details.
- The steering is light enough for city duties and weighs up enough for the highways. It remains stable and controlled at 100kmph. Enthusiasts could harp on about wanting more feedback, but for the Sonet’s intended use it does just fine. It holds its line well (albeit with slight body roll) and lets you have some cornering fun in the twisties. Do take a test drive for better clarity. Check out authorised dealership details.
- Both power and torque are equally important components of an engine. While the torque determines the vehicle's capability to perform work, the power determines how quickly that work can be performed. Higher torque means better acceleration, whereas higher power means better speed.
- Kia Sonet is offered in the Tech Line and GT Line trims with six variants spread out amongst them : HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+ and GTX+. There is no HTE Plus variant on the offer. You may check out the following article to check out variant wise features: Here’s What You’ll Get In Each Kia Sonet Variant.

- Among the two, we would suggest you to opt for the Skoda Rapid if you are looking for a car with good build quality, comfortable ride quality, brilliant handling traits and powerful engine options. The biggest shortcomings - a bland design and lack of features - have been fixed, which makes it all the more desirable. On the other hand, if you are looking for a sub-4 meter SUV with butch looks, a long features list, spacious cabin and comfortable ride, then the Kia Sonet would be a better option. The Sonet is delivering on the wow factor with mini-SUV looks, quality interiors and an extensive feature list It’s being sensible and practical too, with loads of cubby holes and a large boot. - Kia Sonet is offered with two petrol engine options: an 83PS 1.2-litre unit and a 120PS 1.0-litre turbo charged mill. While the bigger engine is mated to a 5-speed manual only, the turbo unit is available with a 6-speed iMT (clutchless manual) and a 7-speed DCT. If you are on a strict budget and want a no-nonsense car, then the 1.2-litre petrol engine can be a good options. Whereas, if you want better performance and a fun-to-drive SUV, then we'd suggest you to go with the 1.0-litre turbocharged engine. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test drive for a better understanding of comfort and compatibility. You may click on the link and select your desired city for dealership details.Read More: - Kia Sonet Driven: More Than Just A Great Brochure?
- Both the variant are similar in features and engine performance, the only difference one will see is in looks and that too because of the dual-tone. - Though we haven't tested these variants for a drag race. But, as per their on-paper specifications, GTX Plus Turbo DCT will achieve better top speed. On the other hand, 1.5 GTX Plus Diesel AT would be more fun to drive as it offers better pickup. Do take a test drive for better clarity. Check out authorised dealership details.
- Kia Sonet GTX Plus Turbo iMT has sufficient enough power to tackle hilly conditions but as it is not an offroader car, it will do the job but don't expect it an outright performer for off-road conditions. Do take a test drive for better clarity. Check out authorised dealership details.
- Sonet has McPherson Strut with Coil Spring suspension at the front and Coupled Torsion Beam Axle (CTBA) with Coil Spring suspension in the rear which works pretty well over broken roads and can smash through potholes. Over sharp edges, you do hear the suspension “thwack” at its limit, but you don’t feel that in the cabin. In this regard, Kia has done well to choose a better setup for Indian roads than on the Seltos. When combined with the quietness, the resulting sense of calm and long-legged ability belies the size of the Sonet. Moreover, we'd recommend taking a test drive of the car for a better insight into the performance, comfort, and compatibility. Follow the link for dealership details - Car Showrooms.
- Worst suspension i have ever seen in any car in india drive for 6 months i bet yu will see the condition of this car .... yu should have learned from your parent co because venue has much better suspensions in the same segment
- I own a sonet...the worst suspension in my ownership experience. Stiff suspension which is gives very bad ride quality and comfort. Many told me that its due to the diesel engine weight. But infact every sonet has the issue...i bought this car due to only torque converter automatic diesel in the segment. I regret my decision.
- Selecting the best variant would depend on your budget. Kia Sonet is a feature rich offering and gets a good list of features right from the base variant. If you are on a tight budget then you may go with the mid-spec variants, whereas, if budget is not the constraint then you may go for the top-spec variants with all the bells and whistles. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test drive of the specific variant before making the final decision. Follow the link and select your desired city for dealership details.Read More: - Here’s What You’ll Get In Each Kia Sonet Variant
- Despite the choice of variant, the Kia Sonet offers a pliant and comfortable ride quality. In the diesel-auto, the smooth and unhurried shifts of the gearbox deliver a sense of premiumness. For everyday driving, the iMT could deliver a better driving experience at a fraction of the cost, as the DCT isn’t a very snappy unit. There’s a fun factor to the iMT too as it rev-matches when shifting down the gears, which will get you in the mood to hustle. However, if you want the drive modes (Eco, Normal and Sport) and traction modes (Snow, Mud and Sand) you will have to opt for the automatic transmission options. The drive modes alter throttle response to make the Sonet calmer or more urgent to drive. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test ride before making the final decision. Follow the link and select your desired city for dealership details.
- Kia claims to have liberated a bit more space inside the Sonet’s cabin. There is enough legroom on offer for rear occupants and a few millimeters of shoulder room seems to have been unlocked for rear-seat occupants by clever designing of the door pads. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test drive for a better understanding of comfort and performance. You may click on the link and select your desired city for dealership details.

- Maruti Vitara Brezza remains a good value for money offering for an everyday city-centric SUV. At the rear, the wide bench makes it reasonably comfortable for three adults, with a good amount of knee and headroom on offer. The Vitara Brezza is now powered by Maruti’s tried-and-tested 105PS 1.5-litre K15B petrol motor paired to a 2.4PS electric motor, which aids in start-stop function and torque boost assist. The engine is refined and drives well mated to a 5-speed gearbox, however, the automatic feels archaic and could have been better. Moreover, the Vitara Brezza boasts decent built quality, however, the interior plastic quality hasn't improved. - Selecting between the Kia Sonet and MG Hector would depend on certain factors such as your budget, preference of the segment, preference of powertrain, features required, service costs, ride quality, etc. If you are looking for a sub 4-metre SUV with attractive styling, butch looks, a host of features and multiple powertrain options to choose from then you may go with the Kia Seltos. The Sonet looks sure to raise the bar a fair few notches for the segment. Whereas, if you are looking for an SUV from a segment above that offers a spacious cabin area, easy to drive engine options and great features then the MG Hector would be a better choice. Aside from the flashy exterior and the gimmicky promise of “Internet Inside,” the Hector is a sensible, middle-ground approach to a family SUV. The IMT is a clutchless transmission which uses a conventional gearbox, however, without the clutch. However, it is not an automatic transmission as it still has the conventional manual gearbox in the central console tunnel and it won’t change gears by itself. IMT allows you to shift gears like a manual variant without having to press a clutch pedal by utilizing a sensor embedded into the gear selector. Check out the first drive review of Kia Sonet for more details.
- Hi there, I want to buy a KIA SONET 1l turbo petrol manual. When will they be available in South Africa?

As for the maintenance costs, we expect it to be on par with other same segment SUVs like Hyundai Venue, however, for exact details we would suggest you to connect with the authorized service center. Also, the after sales service would depend on the availability of the service centers in your city. - Selecting the right fuel type depends on your utility and average running of the car. If you drive less then 50km in a day then we recommend you to go with a petrol car as they are easy to maintain, have a longer life span and they cost less initially then the diesel car. The diesel cars are more fuel efficient and provide more torque, therefore, are preferred for a person who drives more than 50km. Whereas, petrol engine has a low service cost, more life span, generally have a well-controlled NVH level and are cheaper in cost than the diesel engines. - All your reviews read like paid promotions. Q. Isn’t HTX iMT at 1 litre engine, the only option available, under powered and soggy on the pick up?
- I test drove the GTX iMT, when I lift my leg from brake in slope, the car holds for a 2-3 seconds, and then it rollsback for a few inches and then the creep functions kicks in and the car moves forward again. There is a delay of 2 seconds between the hold and creep function. I really want to know how this works in HTX as I have already booked this varient. If it doesn't hold the car for the 2-3 seconds like the GTX variant it will be difficult to drive in hill stations.
- The creep function simply enables the car to move slowly when you lift your foot off the accelerator. The hill assist is available with the Kia Sonet, however, with the limited variants like GTX Plus.
- I put this question to Kia few months before as I use to drive it in hills as well but they do not have any satisfactory answer to me.

We Indians don't even consider safety while choosing cars, I believe that should be the first filter we should apply while selecting the cars we must buy..

- Was laughing for 5 min after reading the reply.. Sir-not sure what are you trying to prove a point here.. Mayank is clear in his message that Kia has proved his safety which is very true after seeing few accidents (not just one but more). If you rate entertainment features are more important for you than safety then its your choice.. but I would recoment to many to consider safety higher than anything else.. Kia needs to understand this and no doubt their vehicles and features are awesome compared to other cars.. They need to question themselves why are they not have those strong steel bars(platform) mainly in india where they have it for international models.

- I too was in the same dilemma - I was confused between top variants of Sonet and Nexon and mid variants of Creta which are all similarly priced (budget of 15-16 lakhs). Nexon has the best suspension and ride quality over bad roads, Sonet has the most features, Creta is bigger and more SUV like. So which one to choose? I spent a lot of time researching the pros and cons of each car and more than that I made a list of the most important features I wanted in my new car and finally arrived on Kia Sonet. 1) Great performance - I’m a car enthusiast and drive for fun instead of need. It’s mostly long drives and less city drive and I wanted a peppy fun to drive engine. I test drove Sonet and Nexon
- Guys, Just go for NEXON. It was awesome car with 3 drive modes. If you are looking for mileage s**t to ECO mode, if you want performance shift to SPORTS mode. Its serves both the purposes. I was assured delivery on 16th December 2020 but as of today 4th Feb 2021 they have nothing to say and yet if you call as a new customer they assure you 8 -10 weeks delivery. Is there noone who can give a more clear picture of wth is going on? And if this is whats happening before even getting the car I wonder what kind of service they will proved after sales.. im so conflicted .. whether to wait or move on.Do we as customers don't deserve even a proper reply? Can kia not even be bothered to explain the delay and the tentative date or time line for us to expect rather than people who have paid hard earned money in advance to need to keep visiting their showroom for a reply only to return home even more confused and disappointed?
- I have booked Kia Sonet HTX+, Diesel, dual Tone (Red & Black) on 22.09.2020 r with Rajesh Motors, Ajmer Road, at Jaipur. At the time of booking, I was assured for a delivery within 6-7 weeks of period. After 87 days of booking, no one has ready to a satisfactory reply of such delay. Contacted their call Centre, mailed at k******s@kiamotorsindia.in and also their higher offices but all were found busy in booking only saying again a lie for assured delivery in the committed waiting period. No RTI is applicable on these lairs. PMO also can do nothing on such companies. For someone a vehicle may be a luxury but for me its a need for day to day life. Really, I am tired of waiting with nuisance reply from KIA/dealer
- I booked a Sonet Turbo DCT very happily on 10 oct 2020, salesman committed lead time was 3 to 4 wks. And as you all guys may have done.. sent VOC mail to KIA customer service... usual reply 'we apologize for delay.. you ll get your car soon' .. but, still don't know .. when tht 'soon' will come..If anyone can suggest some astrologers.. it ll be highly appreciated.(BTB... i went on to buy a new i10.. by last of week of Dec... ultimately, there is a limit to take the wrath from spouse :) )
