The Duet is Hero MotoCorp’s new unisex scooter, positioned as a family scooter. And it’s built on a brand new scooter platform developed by Hero R&D. The all-metal body adds a premium feel to the scooter, putting the Duet in a class of one in its segment. Hints of chrome on the front and sides further accentuate its appeal. The Hero Duet gets an analog instrument cluster with a digital odometer. There is also a pass switch on offer. There is a segment-first indicator for side-stand and a service reminder beam on the console. On the back of handling and the features on offer, the Hero Duet ticks several right boxes despite an understated design language. So if you are looking for a unisex scooter that happens to be not so appealing on the design front, the Hero Duet is a good option to shortlist.

The Duet is powered by the same engine that powers the Maestro Edge, which is a 110cc, air-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder powerplant producing 8.4PS of maximum power at 8000rpm, while peak torque of 8.3Nm is delivered at 6500rpm. Bumps and potholes are handled by telescopic forks at the front, whereas a hydraulic shock takes care of the rear. The 130mm drum brakes on both the tyres come with Integrated Braking System. On the back of handling and the features on offer, the Hero Duet ticks several right boxes despite an understated design language. The Duet is Hero MotoCorp’s new unisex scooter, positioned as a family scooter. And it’s built on a brand new scooter platform developed by Hero R&D.On the back of excellent handling and a myriad features, the Hero Duet ticks several right boxes despite an understated design. Combine it with good fuel economy and you have the perfect bike for the family – the image that Hero desires to create for it. Despite being priced around a couple of thousand bucks inferior to consumer favourites like the Honda Activa 5G and the TVS Jupiter, the Hero Duet has been outsold by its brawnier and more expensive cousin, the Maestro Edge. It would largely boil down to the average looks of the scooter that have kept it from standing out in a crowd. Hero’s USP, however, lies in its wide dealership network and committed after-sales service, propelled by which it has become the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer. So if you are on a hunt for a unisex scooter with underplayed looks, the Hero Duet can be a handy option.

  • Q. I am confused between Hero Duet and Activa 5G. My selection depends upon comfort, mileage and performance?

I will suggest Duet bcoz of suspension. It will give you more comfort. Mileage is almost the same in all scooters. If you ride in economy mode then it will give 50 to 54 kmpl. Permormance is increased due to again the handles are big and no fatigue while driving.due to telescopic suspension even through the bumps and rough roads.

For a good scooter with tested fuel efficient motor, decent performance and good build quality then we'd recommend opting for the Honda Activa 5G. For a better perspective, check out the first ride review by our experts.

  • Q. How is Hero duet? Is it smooth like activa?

The Activa-i primarily focuses on women. It’s got a peppy engine and comes with Honda’s quintessential Honda reliability. But the trailing link suspension up front doesn’t help much with soaking bumps as well as the Duet. Hero Duet has a claimed fuel economy of 63kmpl. The scooter has been engraved with a great suspension setup to face the potholes and bumpy speed breakers. The scooter handles well on road with a peppy engine, great mileage and good comfort, this is a perfect family scooter.
