Here, Bajaj Discover 125 would be a better pick. The 2018 Bajaj Discover 125 is powered by an updated 124.5cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled DTS-i engine that produces 11PS of power at 7500rpm and 11Nm of torque at 5500rpm. The bike features a 5-speed transmission. Bajaj sells the Discover 125 with the option of a front disc brake. The Discover 125 competes with the Honda CB Shine, the Hero Glamour, the Hero Super Splendor, the Bajaj V12 and the Yamaha Saluto. The 2018 Bajaj Discover 125 gets telescopic suspension at the front and gas-filled shock absorbers at the rear. The rear suspension also features Bajaj’s signature SnS (spring in spring) technology, which helps the Discover 125 tackle poor roads comfortably. Braking duties are handled by 130mm drums at both ends on the Discover 125 (drum) variant. For the Discover 125 (disc) variant, the front drum is replaced by a 200mm disc while the rear retains the drum setup. The disc variant should offer better braking compared to the drum version and complements the increased power output of the Discover’s 125cc engine. • Q. I bought saluto just 20 days ago. Now i didn't get minimum mileage of 50 km/ l, highly disappointed. Will mileage increase after service Pls reply

At the initial level, the mileage will be low because a new bike takes time to accustom - the Engine, Piston, Fuel Lines all takes time to lubricate and initial mileage will be low. It generally takes upto 500 to 800 kms for your bike started to offer a better mileage. While at around 1000-1500kms distance when covered, mileage will be at its best and will stabilize which even gets better on oil change. It also depends on riding style and how the bike is maintained. In order to improve the mileage, we would suggest you to ride slower. Riding fast can reduce your fuel efficiency by up to 33% if you are travelling above 50 kmph. The tire pressure should be checked at least monthly because properly inflated tires can improve fuel efficiency by up to 3%.

  • Q. Which bike is best for engine and millege?
    Hormazd
    Hormazd | 7 months ago

Most modern day machines are very refined as well as reasonably fuel efficient. Please understand that more power comes at the expense of fuel economy. So you must decide how much is just enough. At the end of the day people make their choice mostly on looks and the sound it makes. All other considerations go out the window. Hence different people are attracted to different machines. The market leader is Hero, followed by Honda, Bajaj and Yamaha in terms of sales. Other factors like service centre location, colour choice, etc are also important. Go to each dealer, sit on the bike or scooter you are attracted to. Get a feel of it. Request a test ride. Come home, ponder. Next day repeat with next showroom. Come home, ponder. Your mind and heart will eventually give you the answer you are seeking. It will differ from person to person and will be just right for that individual. So take your time and decide. That is the best way. Just following somebody's recommendation is not the answer.

  • Q. How can I increase mileage of salute it is just 55-62 km/lit

    Zigwheels | 1 year ago

In order to improve the mileage, we would suggest you to drive slower. Driving fast can reduce your fuel efficiency by up to 33% if you are travelling above 60 mph. It is best to change gears appropriately and match the gear and the RPM carefully. You have to be careful when going to the tuner. Make sure the tuning is just to keep your engine running at the proper revs to provide maximum fuel efficiency. Changing the fuel filter on a regular basis will ensure that your bike runs smoothly by letting only fuel into the engine instead of other residue from the tank and a clean air filter promotes better combustion which optimizes fuel economy. The tire pressure should be checked at least monthly because properly inflated tires can improve fuel efficiency by up to 3%. You can keep these things in mind while maintaining your bike.

  • Q. I am using Honda Shine bike for past 6 years on this bike frequently found chain sound problem, so I have decided to change my vehicle, so suggest me to which is best milage, durability bike like Shine?

I too faced a similar problem with my Honda Shine. The chain often would turn loose. It is comparatively too thin. The shine is a good bike. But if you do want to go for a new one, I would suggest Saluto in the economy segment.

  • Q. I NEED CORRECT FEEDBACK ABOUT YAMAHA SALUTO 125CC BIKE?
    Zigwheels
    Zigwheels | 11 months ago

The new Yamaha Saluto is powered by a new 125cc engine powered with Yamaha's trademark Blue Core technology. Tipping the scales at 112kg wet, the Saluto boasts of claimed fuel economy figures of 78kmpl. The Saluto also gets new cycle parts. The single downtube diamond frame that uses the engine as a stressed member is lighter than before. The swingarm is new too and even though the suspension follows the same basic layout as older 125s - telescopic forks upfront and twin coil over dampers at the rear, these have been tuned differently to return a more comfortable ride; claims, we can only verify once we get to ride the motorcycle. But, yes, one thing is for certain, the Yamaha Saluto does have good seating ergonomics. Its commuter friendly tall and pulled back handlebar, forward set footpegs and a well padded seat that leads into a well shaped tank, do make for comfortable seating. Yamaha Saluto is well priced for a 125cc motorcycle. But, when one starts looking deeper, the lack of a disc brake option, the low power figure and the lack of any particular USP, do take away from that pricing advantage. As we see it then, the Yamaha Saluto must now prove its worth with the riding experience it delivers for it to be considered as a worthy alternative to the likes of the highly popular Honda Shine.

  • Q. Is it suitable for hilly roads - Saluto?
    Zigwheels
    Zigwheels | 7 months ago

Yamaha India isn’t known for its commuter bikes. Yamaha has established itself more as a manufacturer of sporty, high quality, aspirational bikes. Yamaha Saluto 125 is powered by an Air Cooled 125 cc 4stroke engine which produces the power of 8.3PS@7000 rpm. We would not suggest this bike for the hilly areas as it may lack on some of the steep uphills. we would suggest you take a test ride of the bike so that you may evaluate the bike on the basis of your outlook towards the ride quality and comfort.
