Suzuki Burgman carries forward the Access 125’s air-cooled, 124cc single-cylinder motor and makes the same 8.7PS at 7000rpm and 10.2Nm at 5000rpm. So it's logical that the Burgman would be slower than the Access 125. In our acceleration tests, the Burgman got from 0-60kmph in 8.69 seconds - that’s half a second quicker than the Access 125! That gap spreads to almost a second and a half in the run to 80kmph (16.28 seconds vs 18.24 seconds). However, in the roll-on time of 20-50kmph, both scooters registered an identical time of 4.65 seconds. This shows that the Burgman has better initial grunt, which allows it to get off the line quicker. Interestingly, the Burgman has a more linear power delivery when compared to the Access 125. And this gives you the feeling that the Burgman isn’t accelerating as quickly as its sibling. Its refinement adds to that feeling as well. Vibrations, too, are non-existent and this scooter feels a lot smoother than the Access 125. At speeds of 50kmph, the Burgman’s motor is completely unstressed, which allows it to return a fantastic fuel efficiency of 54.9kmpl in the city - the best in its class. And it continues to remain stress-free even as the speeds climb higher. So even on the highway, it returns a fuel efficiency figure of 54.7kmpl - again the best in the 125cc scooter segment. Talking of metal body, only few have it, with special reference to Vespa VXL 150cc, metal unibody design, but it is on premium side, and economically affordable is Activa 125cc, it also has metal body, and except metal body, everything else in burgman 125cc is appreciable and quite competitive, and lovable and here special reference to its refined engine.

  • Q. Sir i am getting mileage of 30 km per ltr. Still my first service is due. Till know i have ride 450 km. Can i know why i am getting so low mileage - Burgman Street?

A vehicle takes time to accustom - the Engine, Piston, Fuel Lines all takes time to lubricate and initial mileage will be low. It generally takes upto 500 to 1000 kms for your car started to offer a better mileage. While after 1000 kms distance when covered, mileage will be at its best and will stabilize which even gets better on oil change. The mileage will on factors like tyre pressure, traffic/road condition, how it is maintained and driving style as well. Moreover, in order to improve the mileage, we would suggest you to ride slower. Riding fast can reduce your fuel efficiency by up to 33% if you are traveling above 40 kmph. It is best to change gears appropriately and match the gear and the RPM carefully. The tire pressure should be checked at least monthly because properly inflated tires can improve fuel efficiency by up to 3%.
