  • Q. Hi mayuresh, I wanted a bike in budget with good power, nice look and reliable service. I have two choices pulsar ug 5 and hero cbz 200 . Suggest me on style, comfortable , maintenance. Thanks - CB Hornet 160R?

Here, Hero Xtreme 200R would be a better pick. In terms of competition, the Hero Xtreme 200R has a tough battle on its hands. Particularly owing to the features, power and styling on offer, which makes the competition a lot more value for money. During our first ride it came across as a more commuter focused 200cc bike, which is easy going. So if that's the kind of machine you are looking for? Go for it!

  • Q. How is Honda hornet 160R & what about performance?
    Zigwheels
    Zigwheels | 11 months ago

The Honda CB Hornet 160R is powered by the same motor seen on the Honda Unicorn 160 but the powerplant has been tweaked to extract more power, 1.9PS more to be precise. The 162.7cc air-cooled motor churns out 15.9PS of max power and peak torque of 14.8Nm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel by a 5-speed gearbox. The Honda CB Hornet 160R employs a diamond-type frame with telescopic front forks and a monoshock at the rear. Braking is done by petal disc brakes along with the option of CBS (Combined Braking System), which engages the front with some pressure, once the rear brake is applied. In the form of the CB Hornet 160R, Honda now has a competitive offering in the premium 160cc motorcycle segment. It looks the part with its sporty styling and chiselled lines. Performance of the motorcycle is also admirable with respect to its rivals and it offers decent fuel efficiency as well. It seems that Honda have got it right the third time around.

The bike is good at performance. The engine redlines easily which allows you to use the power available with ease. After 6,500rpm the engine hum changes to a grunt which encourages you to redline in every gear. The 162.71cc engine delivers 15.7bhp at a slightly higher 8,500rpm, the peak torque is 14.76Nm which is delivered at 6,500rpm. The five-speed gearbox does its duty smoothly and didn't fumble once during those five kilometres for which we rode the bike. Ride quality is firm and handling commendable, but it was too brief a ride to really put the Hornet through its paces.

Single channel ABS on front wheel. One does not need Dual channel ABS on a 150-160 cc bikes as they are not very fast bikes.

  • Q. Which model of hornet should I buy for everyday use the cbs or the abs version?
    Amitesh
    Amitesh | 12 months ago

As per my openion Cbs is good for city ride and abviously abs is good for rash driving while suddenly braking is much safer then other varients of brakes like disk or cbs. Abs is prevent from accidents chances. But that doesn't mean you totally dependant on breakes, it's all upon your driving style.

We would suggest you to pick for its ABS version because ABS increases the braking efficiency of a vehicle and helps to maintain stability during braking and to decrease the stopping distance. It provides traction even on low friction surfaces.

Not actually. Abs dlx which is the latest model has front abs while rear has disc brake and i must say Hornet has the best braking system among all of its opponent in this price segment.
