It won’t be an exaggeration to say that Yamaha’s FZ series kick-started the sporty naked streetfighter trend in India. The first generation FZ’s were known for their mean design, muscular bodywork and chunky rear tyre. The FZ-S took things up a notch by introducing new graphics and additional bits like an underbelly pan, a fly screen and an engine cowl. Since then, the series has garnered a loyal fan following. In order to keep things fresh, Yamaha recently introduced the third iteration of the FZ range with re-worked design and addition of nifty features like LED headlamps and an LCD instrument cluster. Most importantly, it now comes with the added safety of a single-channel ABS unit.

Yamaha FZ-S V3 BS4 Overview

Yamaha has issued a recall for the FZ-S FI Version 3.0 manufactured from October 2019 in the country. The recall is over non-fitment of the reflector at the rear. Yamaha will contact affected customers and install the part for free. In a related development, the 150cc FZ series motorcycles become Yamaha’s first BS6-compliant bikes. The premium FZS-Fi receives a price hike of Rs 2,600 and now it costs Rs 1,01,200 (ex-showroom Delhi). In a bid to be emission compliant, the 149cc engine has seen a drop in max power, which is now rated at 12.4PS. However, the torque has gone up slightly to 13.6Nm. The FZS-FI gets two new colours: metallic red and Darknight -- the latter costs Rs 1,500 more than the base colours.

  • If we compare Fi version of all bike then i think pickup of TVS Apache will be more, according to mileage 1st will be Hornet then Yamaha and then Apache but the difference will be only 4-5 kms.If we come to comfort i own Apache and i didnt find any problem with comfort, and for pricing you should contact dealers in the city.

Q. I am confused between TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and Yamaha FZ S V3 under 1.20 lakh. Please suggest me one. Their is a saying the brakes of Yamaha FZ S V3 are not up to mark. What is the reality - Gixxer 2019?
  • Even I too thought of choosing Apache only, but cost wise not that much diff bro.. only very less price diff, but durable is Yamaha only , even after 5 years of riding Yamaha bikes, it won't go down and won't get vibration and all, but Apache and pulsar will give more vibration.. I was having TVS bike oly before my Yamaha FZ-S V3.. performance also fine only...Before going with Yamaha FZ-S V3, I have checked a list of bikes like RE Thunderbird, RE Bullet classic, Apache 160v4, Apache 200, Yamaha FZ-S v2 and V3, Bajaj Pulsar 160, even Honda Hornet also I have tried. Decided Yamaha FZ-S V3 finally.. took around an year (From Jan 2019 till Nov 23, 2019) ... 😄😄Moreover Apache is Indian made so cost must be lesser than Yamaha which is getting imported and tax duties must be high.. I didn't meant to say Indian bikes are cheaper and Yamaha is good bcos of Foreign made.. but it's a fact... If you consider there is some value for engine and durability of it, go for Yamaha or else Honda bikes than TVS and Bajaj bikes... 😊

Q. What the main problems in this bike - FZS V3?
  • The main problem is fiber petrol tank panel was installed with stainless steel screw. It is breaking automatically without any external load.. Another one is headlight coverage. LED is not much enough compare to ordinary lights..Engine sound is changing after 12k Kms. Service people's said like inlet valve is loosen. Mileage and performance is too good when compared to V2.
  • Fibre fittings and in some places fibre body which doesn't give that much of sturdiness. Also the major problem that I had faced was from the rear mud guard as the mud guard is not complete and the position of the mud guard is quite awkward and that it splashes on the back side of the legs of the pillion who is sitting. Yamaha has to seriously look on this aspect.
  • Cons- less power, low pickup, low torque, high beam not good, no kick, fiber bodyPros- best handling, nice balance, most comfortable and if you buy an abs version I bet you would be able to control the bike in worst to worst situation.Best tyres, smooth engine, wide n comfortable seat

    Bike is very comfortable but not high pickup with best mileage.Petrol tank is looks like bulky.No gear indicator and no fuel economy display.Looks like bulky like 400cc but performance is just average.

    if you want a bike with good mileage and a decent sporty look and use it for some long rides means just go for it and if you use it for daily commute and family usage means it the one which is useful for your mother and wife to sit in it. if you ride the bike upto 75km/hr means it will deliver a mileage of about 50-52kmpl if it reved smooth. and the top speed of the bike is 120km/hr but you can cruise easily upto 90km/hr without any vibration. since i have taken my fz for a 1000km ride from chennai to yercaud it gave me a mileage of 48kmpl when cruising at speed of 85km/hr with a pillion that much is the mileage and ride quality of this bike. the one this you will find is that the handle bar on the left is tilted towards the front and the rear brake foot rest is tilted towards the back so you will feel that you were sitting towards the right of the vehicle .

    Worst byk. 100cc bikes can provide far better pickup and performance. Least powered motor cycle. Worst worst worst performance. Its been two months from purchase date and 1700km of travel, my bike rear tyre got burst during ride. Without any crash the tyre got burst that clearly indicating the quality provided by ceat and yamaha. Moreover, dealers are also not responding properly, when I raise my issue. Less power, less torque, less mileage and low quality, but high price. If you are looking for performance, blindly ignore this vehicle.

    Good bike with the neat braking system and decent mileage.. but me being a tall rider of 6 ft I have been facing back pain and discomfort in the knees occasionally if I ride for long. One thing I didn't like in this bike is the mudguard.. the semi-open mudguard is not designed properly and during rains, it will spill on the sides of the bike and pillions lower part of the pant will be damaged due to splash... Yamaha should think about retaining the old mudguard that they had used for FZ

    Super smooth...Ride comfort is good... you will feel no back pain after a long ride... engine is perfectly tuned for city as well as highway rides.. on paper the power and torque may feel low. but it is quite ok for commuting in city and long drives... initial pickup may feel low, but mid rage is superb.. you need to stress the engine to cross 💯 or 110... if you ride smoothly then definitely you can get 50kmpl milage...

    Today I read some reviews of this bike. Several illusory reviews are also placed here. I want to spread it to all of you. I have been using this bike for the last 11 months and have run 18200 km. I go to this office by bike every day and come back home. I ride this bike from 72 to 75 km daily. The mileage of this bike is 50-53 km/ltr. No other bike is better than Yamaha FZS-V3 for office use.
