I too faced the same issue after not using my rtr 160 4v fi for 6 months and took it to Service Center. Since they did not have the display in stock, they placed an order. They asked me to use the vehicle as usual and they would fix the new one when the replacement arrives. Weirdly, after driving for around 50kms and parking it under sunlight, the display started working again. I tried moving the wires underneath it, pressing the buttons and tapping it but the display does not turn off. I have been using the bike for couple of days and the display is working normal. Now I'm thinking wether to replace it or not. Just sharing my experience here so that I will feel confident to skip the replacement if any others have experienced same.

Check air pressure..front 28..rear 32 psi...use premium fuel...clean oil cooler with compressed air...use 10/50 synthetic oil.All this, if done correctly should give you top speed of at least 120 kph.

So my issue has been resolved by the service center guys recently, of course after having a lot of issues. Thankfully one of the technician was aware of this issue. So the fix was basically a software update of the FI system. And after that the bike has become more smooth and not more engine shutting off. So if you are going to the service center with the same issue and the technicians are not getting the issue exactly then you can suggest him to do this. There is something like a 4 port usb under the seat which the technician connected to to something and updated it from his mobile only.. If there is no issue anywhere else still your bike is facing the same issue then you can try this.

But the comfort and ability to take family on that motorcycle in slow speeds makes it interesting. I had owned Bullet Electra 4S in the past and am afraid of maintenance and reliability issues of RE. I plan to buy in few months and need a safe bike with good handling and braking. (I had a bad accident with FZ25 - I will say, the main reason is that bike has a cruising speed above 90kmph and you shouldn't really ride in that speed, especially in the city.) That's why I'm looking down to Apache's which seemingly have good handling and cruising speed may be 50-80kmph). Please help.

I have a similar requirement as yours (in the question), and have test-ridden hero Xtreme 160R, as well; along with the options mentioned above, this is what I noted. With the reviews and verdicts from almost every major auto channel, it was an obvious run. To my surprise, I couldn't find the 'sporty' (rear set foot-pegs) on the Apache RTR 160 4v as comfortable as other bikes - however, TVS's offering was the best in the segment, before the BS6 norms pushed in, due to lower kerb weight and the power figures. The ride quality and handling are superb, plus a decent fuel economy is a pro.Given that I found the ride a bit too tiring for my wrists, and a Honda showroom was next in line, I drove the Hornet 2.0. You hop on to its saddle, and you feel a certain correction in the posture - an upright, wide handlebar setting, with mildly rear-set footpegs, make you stay easy, even at higher speeds - the suspension setup is on the firm side though - the higher cost and the lower fuel economy are the only cons that I could measure at the moment.Next, Hero extreme 160R was a similar offering, just with a refined but slightly weaker engine than the Hornet 2.0 - you miss the pull from the engine to go up and rev it higher - the bike is nimble and a very capable handler of bad roads too. Fuel economy is quite similar to TVS's just the braking improves with the lower weight figures.For the final option, I went in to drive the FZ-S V3 - It was a DELIGHT - you sit even more so relaxed than on any of the previous bikes, and the ride quality is plush! Given that I was riding it right after the previous two, the motor felt far too refined for even the Hornet to match. Better economy and festive deals made it a better choice for me - given the quality, comfort being better than what I had tested and the cost was considerably lower than the other options.The only question that I have in mind is 'How long is the FZ going to continue in India?'; given that spare parts vanish out of Indian markets, as soon as the bike is discontinued.In my opinion, if you prefer an easy-riding style and economy and comfort are a priority, go with Yamaha's 'Lord of The Streets'. Hornet 2.0 also makes a better option if the budget allows, too.

To my surprise, I couldn't find the 'sporty' (rear set foot-pegs) on the Apache RTR 160 4v as comfortable as other bikes - however, TVS's offering was the best in the segment, before the BS6 norms pushed in, due to lower kerb weight and the power figures. The ride quality and handling are superb, plus a decent fuel economy is a pro. Given that I found the ride a bit too tiring for my wrists, and a Honda showroom was next in line, I drove the Hornet 2.0. You hop on to its saddle, and you feel a certain correction in the posture - an upright, wide handlebar setting, with mildly rear-set footpegs, make you stay easy, even at higher speeds - the suspension setup is on the firm side though - the higher cost and the lower fuel economy are the only cons that I could measure at the moment. Next, Hero extreme 160R was a similar offering, just with a refined but slightly weaker engine than the Hornet 2.0 - you miss the pull from the engine to go up and rev it higher - the bike is nimble and a very capable handler of bad roads too. Fuel economy is quite similar to TVS's just the braking improves with the lower weight figures.For the final option, I went in to drive the FZ-S V3 - It was a DELIGHT - you sit even more so relaxed than on any of the previous bikes, and the ride quality is plush! Given that I was riding it right after the previous two, the motor felt far too refined for even the Hornet to match. Better economy and festive deals made it a better choice for me - given the quality, comfort being better than what I had tested and the cost was considerably lower than the other options.The only question that I have in mind is 'How long is the FZ going to continue in India?'; given that spare parts vanish out of Indian markets, as soon as the bike is discontinued.In my opinion, if you prefer an easy-riding style and economy and comfort are a priority, go with Yamaha's 'Lord of The Streets'. Hornet 2.0 also makes a better option if the budget allows, too.
All these bikes are good enough and easy for pocket to maintain. The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V has been the benchmark when it comes to 160cc motorcycles. With the BS6-compliant iteration, TVS has made sure it is still as sprightly as ever despite the slight drop in power and torque figures. The overall package and reasonable pricing make it a truly value for money motorcycle in its segment. In nearly every aspect, except maybe ergonomics and braking, the Yamaha FZS-FI v3.0 fails to impress. While its motor offers better fuel efficiency compared to the previous-gen model, it lacks grunt. If you have around Rs 1 lakh to invest, you're better off with other options. if you are looking for better power performance, build quality, good features and a more stable bike, you may go for Hornet 2.0. It is comfortable enough and gets a refined and smooth engine too. If we talk about Honda Unicorn, it has always been the go-to bike if you were planning to buy a 150cc commuter. The BS6 update has given the bike a larger motor, while retaining the dynamics of the older bike. This Apache comes equipped with TVS Remora tyres at both ends: a 90/90-17 upfront and a 130/70-17 at the rear. But that rear rubber is only offered on the rear disc brake variants, as the rear drum variant gets a 110/80-17 rear. But put the bike through its paces and it’s clear that this RTR 160’s handling prowess is down primarily to the chassis and suspension setup, because the tyres are average at best. Hats off to TVS for engineering such a brilliant setup, which we think should feel even better with better rubber. To be honest, the brakes were a bit of a disappointment. The front brake lever feels spongy and there’s almost no feel from it. Even the bite is not all that great. In fact, a couple of times, under very hard braking, we got a massive brake fade. While we don’t believe that these brakes will be an issue for everyday use, if you’re riding hard and fast, such as on a racetrack, you will need to recalibrate braking distances in your head. Though we haven't tested the bike in wet road conditions, it requires more cautious riding. In our road test, it delivered 50.9kmpl in the city and 56.1kmpl on the highway. Just done 1st service and odometer reading is 481 kms, the bike's mileage is about 36 km/l in the city. I stay at Kolkata and my driving is only in the city limits. As I haven't completed 750 kms so my speed limit is 50 km/hr and still getting that kind of poor mileage. Don't know how 50 km/l mileage is achieved.

Q. I bought new Apache RTR 160 4V Carburettor version just 2 days back. I am facing an issue in electric start. It takes much time to start using electrical switch. Also I tried using kick start then also it took some time after multiple attempts. Is there an possible issue or it happens in new bike? I faced this issue in the morning around 9:40 AM and it was little cold during the night.

Bro, the same happened with me too. If the weather is cold where you live, try using choke and then give it a kick start. It should roar to life within 5 kicks, then you can turn the choke off after it has started. If this doesn't solve the, I suggest you to contact your nearest service center. Mostly this problem arises in the morning when you start the bike for the first time in the day. After that, it starts normally. When the weather gets warmer day by day, you wont need a choke. The engine shall start within 2-3 kicks, as it does for me now.. ;)Please do share the feedback! :)

The spark plug has to be cleaned again. Please take it to the showroom you bought and show it. They will fix it for free. Winter is not a problem(unless it goes less than 10c). A new bike shouldn't have a starting problem.

Even I too thought of choosing Apache only, but cost wise not that much diff bro.. only very less price diff, but durable is Yamaha only , even after 5 years of riding Yamaha bikes, it won't go down and won't get vibration and all, but Apache and pulsar will give more vibration.. I was having TVS bike oly before my Yamaha FZ-S V3.. performance also fine only...Before going with Yamaha FZ-S V3, I have checked a list of bikes like RE Thunderbird, RE Bullet classic, Apache 160v4, Apache 200, Yamaha FZ-S v2 and V3, Bajaj Pulsar 160, even Honda Hornet also I have tried. Decided Yamaha FZ-S V3 finally.. took around an year (From Jan 2019 till Nov 23, 2019) ... 😄😄Moreover Apache is Indian made so cost must be lesser than Yamaha which is getting imported and tax duties must be high.. I didn't meant to say Indian bikes are cheaper and Yamaha is good bcos of Foreign made.. but it's a fact... If you consider there is some value for engine and durability of it, go for Yamaha or else Honda bikes than TVS and Bajaj bikes... 😊

I own a 160 4V and I got to say this is perhaps the best option in this price range, considering the looks, performance, mileage and all. This machine has got an awesome stability and sticks to the road. You will never feel losing control of it even at 110+ kmph. Mileage is decent, considering the performance. Electricals could have been added but still it does well with what it's got. When it comes to braking, I have read in many reviews that its braking is not that crispy, but honestly I have never complained about the brakes. Well that's my opinion regarding the 4V. Q. Recently purchased Apache RTR 160 FI with ABS. Since the time of purchase the engine indicator on the tachometer stays steadily on. Wanted to know more about the same. Is there a problem with the engine or because its a FI hence the indicator is always lighted up.

I recenty bought a TVS apache rtr 160 4v bs6. Its been hardly 4 months but my bike is having some issues.The engine automatically gets switched off while running. Doesnt happen always. Facing the same issue, I have other problems too.... The bike won't go beyond 80km/hr speed. After suddenly gets off in the middle of the road when I start the bike again it throws some white smoke. For the 1st 4-5 months the service centre guys said that it's nothing, it will go off after sometime. Today at 3rd servicing the service engineer said that engine piston may have some fault and drinking the mobil more than normal so need to replace it.
Something bike run smooth but sometimes it start making noise and the rpm suddenly raise in 4 and 5th gear had to shift to 4rd gear to control bike then after pressing clutch in 4th gear rpm increases to 3000 to 3500, and then reduced slowly happened every time

EFI is a version which consists of ece boards and sensors which sense the amount of petrol to be sent to the engine depending on the power. Where as in carb version it is fully mechanical as in old bikes. The major difference is the EFI versions gives some point difference in mileage. I prefer the carb because it has only some minor difference.
The number of sensors used in engines is different....sensors ensures the proper utilisation of every Last drop of fuel...thats why fi engine provides more milage

Carburettor vehicles are usually cheaper and and any road side mechanic can maintain it.In case of any problem, disconnect the carb and dismantle it, clean it. Most of the problems will get solved. To increase milage or to push your engine to higher speeds all you need to do is adjust the fuel s***w and clean filters whenever required. But most of them are not compliant to BS IV.On the other hand, fuel injected (fi) are bit complicated.You would require a special piece of equipment for servicing fuel injector.If you find any problem with milage or speed, all you need to do is disconnect throttle body and injector, clean it and connect it back. Also in case of some anomalies, you need to service or clean the sensors as well.There are number of sensors, O2 sensor, temperature sensor, knock sensor, which all connect to ECU. And with combined efforts of tlall these, the first system runs.After a certain period of time you also may need to replace fuel pump which is costly as well.But if major problem arises you need to replace or reprogram the ECU, which is a tough task (reprogramming).Also ECU costs a lot, as it manages all the sensors and actuators (injector and throttle).As a conclusion, due to recent increase in sale of fi motorcycles, the prices may have got down but maintenance is as usual, costly. A low CC carb engine should always be preferred over higher CC fi engine.Hope you find your answer.

The poping sound is basically a backfire by the engine , which is nothing to worry about. If you've noticed, this same poping sound is quite louder on superbikes when they decelerate or rev match their bikes. I own an Apache 160 4v and to be honest I love that pop sound and though some may not like it that much but the Apache 160 4v is the only bike in its segment to put out that backfire sound . The bike grabs attention when I open the throttle to nearby commuters to when I rev match the bike to a standstill .

When you get on the bike you would find no issues. But to your legs won't touch the ground completely. It becomes tough to move back and forth. If you want to alter the seat height by changing the suspension, it would be really a bad idea. Your spine will hurt and You ride the back slightly by leaning forward ( It doesn't matter in a normal drive), so if you alter the suspension levels your stomach will hurt. Unless you are confident enough get off the bike to drag it back and forth, you will find some difficulty.
Its the same answer that i gave earlier .My height is 180 cm. Its very comfortable for me. For you I don't think it will make a great difference. It should be comfortble for you as well. In my opinion it is better to have test drive first. Though i am very confident of the ride quality for you. You will not face problem while riding it. You will love it.

Obviously RTR 200 4V is better bike among these two because of reasons given below1.Styling :- RTR 160 4V is Downscaled Version of RTR 200 so looks are subjective this statement is not applicable here And if you will look in pictures RTR 160 4V will look equally good but in real life the difference is apparent in RTR 200 it looks wider and musculer and has splitted seats and gold coloured front forks which stands it out from the commuter crowd.2.Performance :- here also RTR 160 4V can't even stand a chance and there is no argument that RTR 200 4V is sportier bike and it is faster by a big margin whether it is acceleration or top speed RTR 200 will always ho faster and will give you more adrenaline rush.3.Mileage :- mileage is slightly better on RTR 160 4V but it is not a big difference, only 5 kmpl will be lesser on RTR 200 4V in normal riding condition RTR 200 4V gives a mileage of 37-40 and RTR 160 4V gives a mileage of 42-45 but if you are a hardcore rider and if you will ride your bike mostly on highways and if you will ride your bike on speeds like 100 and 110 then RTR 200 4V will give you more mileage because as a 160 cc bike it will be the top end for RTR 160 4V and as my friend told and as i have saw it on youtube milage goes down to 32-35 kmpl and for RTR 200 that speeds are normal because it is 200 cc bike and it is easier for a 200 cc engine to maintain 100 kmph constant speed and it will give normal mileage under these conditions4.handling :- Here also RTR 200 4V's Handling is better than RTR 160 4V's handling because RTR 160 4V has Wide Handlebar and RTR 200 4V has Clip on handlebar and clip on handlebars are known for their sporty handling so if you like cornering so much than RTR 200 is the perfect bike as it also offers you super stickey and grippy Pirelli tyres which are absent on RTR 160 4V5.Comfort :- here both bikes are eqaully good and you might think that RTR 200 4V has clipon handlebars so it will more aggressive and less comfortable but it is not the case because it's handlebars are raised Clip-Ons and they doesn't affect comfort and RTR 160 4V's Wide handlebars are also similar to other bikes in it's segment so both of them give you same comfort.6.Refinement and Vibrations :- if you are thinking that RTR 200 4V and RTR 160 4V are similiar to RTR 160 and RTR 180 than it is not the case both bikes are so much refined and they have very less vibrations which are present only in top end and in top end also vibes are very negligible.7.Features :- RTR 160 4V is very feature rich bike but it can't stand a chance against it's father RTR 200 4v which has more features than RTR 160 4V like Gear position indicator and better looking instrument cluster because of white backlight and it comes with slipper clutch which and it is first bike to have Slipper Clutch in it's segment and it is very rare in higher segments also and it is a very useful feature it is far better than normal clutch and both bikes have ABS on board but the ome on RTR 200 4V is Dual channel ABS so It is Functional on both the tyres front and real while RTR 160 have single channel ABS and it is only operational only on front tyre so if you will press rear brake suddenly then rear wheel will end up in locking and slipping.8.Verdict :- if you are on tight budget than RTR 160 4V makes sence but if budget is not concern and you can spend about 20 thousands more you can end up buying a better bike.Thanks
It depends on your budget nd mileage...Both the bikes are best sellers in their segments you will get slightly better mileage in 160 Fi abs than rtr 200 fi nd you have to pay slightly lesser for 160cc...Rtr 200 has an edge over 160 in terms of ART-Slipper clutch...both the bikes are almost similar you can't get wrong with any of the two so choose according to your need nd mileage.
If you r looking for little more power, 200 is for you but i think 200 doesnt have Kick start & i have seen people dragging the bikes without kick start option .

If you ride with constant speed of 70-85 then you can go upto 250 - 300, i went 280 which includes 80 kms of city drive without turning of the engine 🤩
You can do 200 km in a stretch because will feel pain in your b**t
As you like to go no disturbances till 110kmph after it some vibration can be felt
