Both bikes come in different price ranges. Kawasaki has done a smashing job of making the Ninja 650 a whole lot sportier than before. This sporty vibe stems from its Ninja ZX-6R-inspired looks and builds further with the revv-happy motor that surrounds you with a lovely raspy soundtrack. The suspension setup too is well-tuned to tackle bad tarmac stretches. There are a few drawbacks like the erratic ABS intervention, low ground clearance and tyres that don’t perform too well in wet conditions. The latter two can be solved by taking extreme precaution over oversized speed humps and by swapping out the tyres for something grippier. The ABS calibration issue can be a bit unnerving but you will have to pay more heed when grabbing the brakes. As a whole though, the Ninja 650 BS6 certainly appeals to both the mind as well as the heart, making it a good option for someone who wants to go out there and buy their first proper big bike. On the other hand, If budget is not a issue and looking for a better power performance at a price and often go for long rides, Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX would be a good option. However, it is a bit heavier side and a bit difficult to handle in narrow roads or in city conditions. Apart from it, it offers better feature list, riding modes and better road grip. Also, it is the cheapest bike in its segment that delivers 142 PS/111 Nm. You may compare both bikes accordingly. Do take a test ride in order to get better clarity. Ninja is more of a sport bike you lean forward same with the z900 but not quite as much harder to do the older you getThe z900RS is more of an upright sitting position but you can lean forward if you want. I just rode mine today with tank bag that I could lean on a bit and it was great. This is a very agile bike making it great for ripping around. With a sport bike you can not sit upright with this bike you can sit almost upright and lean forward when riding like a bandit. The z900 has about 10 more horse power Ninja 1000 will have more
Ninja 1000 is a sport tourer, it's like an adventure bike but built like a sports bike. Sitting position isn't uncomfortable for long rides, infact it's a pleasure to ride on highways, going town to town . The only only down side is it's fuel tank capacity which isn't like that of a cruiser bike, so if you are an avid traveler and want to do it on yr bike, u'll either have to stop for frequent refills or find a way to attach the Jerry cans to it. The bike itself is very rideable and agile. It's gonna add tons of fun and comfort to all yr trips.

I own a ninja 1000 and frequently take it out on trips. Highway fuel efficiency is around 19 kmpl if you cruise at speeds around 100-120. This bike is not meant for the city hence pointless discussing city FE which will be around 15 kmpl.
I get 18 kmph on highway. And city 15. Average i get 16.5 + kms
