Hero Super Splendor iSmart Highlights
The Super Splendor shares its powertrain and underpinnings with the carburetted Glamour. The 124.7cc single-cylinder motor delivers 11.5PS at 7500rpm and 11Nm of peak torque at 6500rpm. It gets a 4-speed gearbox. Suspension setup includes telescopic forks and twin hydraulic shock absorbers. Braking is via 130mm drum brakes on both ends. The commuter motorcycle packs a 13-litre fuel tank and tips the scales at 121kg (kerb).
Design and Features
The updated Super Splendor looks sharper than the previous-gen bike, thanks to the revamped front and rear panels along with the new graphics. Apart from this, the Super Splendor also gets a redesigned instrument cluster with side-stand indicator and Hero’s patented i3S start-stop technology. The seat is flat, well cushioned and can comfortably accommodate two.
Bajaj Discover 125: Bajaj recently updated the Discover 125 with CBS. The bike gets LED DRLs and increased suspension travel to tackle bad roads better. Its updated 125cc engine matches the Super Splendor's i3S-equipped motor in performance. The Bajaj Discover 125 is also the most affordable 125cc bike here, priced at par with the premium 110cc segment bikes.
Honda CB Shine: The Honda Shine, like the Bajaj Discover 125, gets an optional disc brake. It also has the longest seat in the segment. The 125cc motor is refined and reliable. This 125cc bike impresses with its build quality and fit and finish levels. Honda's reputation for reliability and a price tag that is closer to the Super Splendor further sweetens the deal.
The new Super Splendor certainly marks an improvement in performance over the previous model. Hero’s i3S technology gives the Super Splendor a slight edge over the competition. It offers a comfortable ride but loses out on the feature front. The Super Splendor comes across as a robust, reliable, value for money offering as it costs Rs 4,000 less than the Honda Shine.
