Honda Racing Launches India's First Motorsports Helpline

Round 1 of the 2016 season of the Honda One Make Race will start from June 24. It will also be the first ever full season for Honda women racers

Motorsports as a career option is something that needs to be cultivated from the grassroots level. It requires a lot of training and dedication. In India motorsports has been present for a long time but somehow it did not have a widespread reach across the country. Honda has decided to change this and, under a unique initiative, has introduced a Helpline number (0124-6712863) for those talented riders who look forward to a career in motorsports. Through this helpline number, deserving candidates can reach out to the Honda Racing Team where they will receive advice on two-wheeler racing. This advice and training will cover technical support as well race-prepped motorcycles to the students under the Honda Ten10 Racing Academy.

Speaking on the launch of the new helpline, Prabhu Nagaraj, Vice President, Customer Service, HMSI, said: “Motorsport has been in Honda’s DNA from the inception. There is something about motor racing that grabs the imagination of almost everyone. At Honda, we are delighted to announce the launch of our Help Line – 0124-6712863 through which we will be able help youngsters dreaming about a career in motorsports, actually achieve it.”

Apart from the launch of the new helpline, the 2016 season of the Honda One Make Race will also be kick-started from June 24. Now in its ninth edition the Honda One Make Race was first introduced by the company in 2008. With every year’s succession, the event has grown bigger in scale and received more recognition. The beginning of the new season will also mark the start of the first-ever full-fledged season of the Honda All Women Race. The first-ever All Women Race was conducted during the Round 5 of 2015 season. The grid of the first season of the Honda exclusive All Women Race will comprise of 10 women who have been trained at the Honda Ten10 Racing Academy.  

Speaking on the All Women Race, Prabhu Nagaraj said: “It is always Honda’s endeavor to bring new categories and excitement into the race. Following an overwhelming response from participants, and support from the motorsport fraternity, we are pleased to announce a full-season of Honda Exclusive Women Race.”

Coming to the motorcycles, Honda has unveiled new race-prepped racing versions of CBR 250R and CBR 150R that have been developed with support from the company’s Indian R&D team. The new racing version of the CBR 250R gets an upgraded Honda racing kit, including wiring harness with remapping option, advanced racing body cowl kit and an Endurance exhaust while the CBR 150R receives a reprogrammed ECU and the Endurance exhaust.

Like other previous seasons, the CBR 250R category will be conducted as a Team Championship with 16 bikes rented to four FMSCI registered teams. For the CBR 150R category, it will be open to riders who have either receives training from Honda Ten10 Racing Academy or any other training school recognized by MMSC (Madras Motor Sports Club).

Round-1 Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore 24th -26th June

Round-2 Madras Motor Race Track, Chennai 8th -10th  July

Round-3 Madras Motor Race Track, Chennai 12th -14th August

Round-4 Madras Motor Race Track, Chennai 2nd -4th September

Round-5 Buddh International Circuit, G.Noida 30th Sep’-2nd October
