The Mercedes EQC will be the latest all-electric available in the subcontinent this festive season and it also aims to be the first luxury electric SUV as well. But is it properly luxury? Just how much fun is it to drive? Should you suffer from range anxiety and just how much is one going to set you back? We’ll tackle all these questions and see what it’s like to drive in the real world as well. The EQC is roughly based on the GLC platform. With the same dimensions in width, wheelbase and height but it’s just a little longer overall. It’s powered by two electric motors on both axles with a total power output of 408PS & 760Nm. The 80kWh battery pack is good for a claimed 450+ km range as per the new european driving cycle but adds 652kgs to the kerb weight seeing the EQC top the scales at just about 2.5 tons. Power: 408PS, Torque 760Nm, 80kWh battery, 450+ km range (NEDC), 0-100kmph in 5.1s Stand out features include Heads-Up Display, Heated And Powered Front Seats With Massage Function, 13-Speaker Burmester Sound, Dual 12.3-inch Screens with new NTG6 MBUX, Ambient Lighting, 3 Zone Climate Control, Smartphone and Smartwatch Connected Car Tech.
