  • Chevrolet Spark Engine Oil Grade

I was hoping to get the engine oil of Chevrolet Spark (2009 model )replaced as per schedule maintenance.
So,on checking the Service Manual it was mentioned 15w40 grade oil,but on asking the chevrolet Service Centre (2 different SS),one mentioned 15w40 Total and other mentioned 5w30 Total .
Now,should i get 15w40 or 5w30 ,though i was thinking of using 10w40 shell hx7 Semi synthetic which is on the cheaper side as compared to 5w30๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š and Rs 100/200 expensive than 15w40 shell
I want to know which grade should i go for which will be best for the engine and my run is mostly 500kms per month at max. and i will go for shell only๐Ÿ˜‰
Will there be any change in fuel economy on the basis of engine oil grade?

Shubham Gupta I would suggest you to follow the grade mentioned in the service manual, instead of going by the grade mentioned by the service advisers. In many cases, grade may differ across facelifts and variants, and the Service manual is the best place to find the recommended grade for your car. As your usage is not too high, there is no need to get an higher rated oil for your car.
I know a lot about cars, man. I can look at any car's headlights and tell you exactly which way it's coming.

Thanks for the reply .Wiฤบl go for 15w40 or at max. 10w40 (as it will provide semi -synthetic in almost same price๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰)

I agree. The user manual of your vehicle would be the best option to know about the grade that you wish to use. Engine oil grade could influence the fuel economy, but you could get a better assistance when you refer the user manual of your vehicle. And suppose if you lost the user manual of your vehicle, you could still get a copy of it absolutely free from
