Q. Which variant is best? What would be service cost - Yaris?
  • I think it is the J. It gives you everything except for rear disc brakes, electronic stability control, rear AC vent, noise cutting side glasses, foldable orvms, running day lights, touchscreen, front parking sensors, tyre pressure monitor. Touchscreens are highly overrated and expensive. Maybe your dealer can fit them for you, but you have to ask who will be responsible for updating the software in it. The J variant gives you all 7 airbags, projector headlights. You can get fog lights, auto dimming irvm, tyre pressure sensor monitor fitted for much less than paying 1.5 lakh extra for the G variant.
  • Service costs are definitely lower than Maruti. However lately Toyota service centres have also started adding useless charges which they don't tell you about. You need to read the service estimate carefully before you hand over the car.
  • YarisCVTi. Being automatic service cost is lowest.

Q. Is Yaris, with 160mm ground clearance, able to manage the bumps and potholes of city roads as good as it's competitors with 170 mm ground clearance in Honda City as a VFM Sedan?
  • Both the cars are sedans which are designed in a manner keeping in mind the comfort and luxury required by the customers. Talking about the specifications here Honda city has a better ground clearance offered in comparison with Yaris. The handling of the car completely depends on an individual's driving style. So here we would recommend that you may go for a test drive for both the cars because the complete idea can only be gained once the car is driven rather than comparing the specifications.
  • Before buying Yaris I owned Mahindra verito, whenever the vehicle was loaded with five passengers I use to be very careful while crossing big humps and many a times wheel flaps would touch bumps. But in Yaris I am not facing such problems at all. May be because it has 15inch wheels.

Q. Which car will be better for self driving in city Verna or yaris petrol?
  • Toyota Yaris delivers 16.4 kmpl in city and 16.3 kmpl on highway whereas its immediate competitor Honda City and Hyundai Verna has the mileage figures of 11.2 kmpl and 12.17 kmpl (in city areas) respectively but if we see their highway fuel efficiency score then Hyundai Verna with 18.43 kmpl took over the Honda city having 16.55 kmpl of fuel economy and Toyota yaris. ZW says: If you'll be majorly driving in stop-and-go traffic and1need a sedan with basic features such air bags, power windows etc and ready to compromise with rear seat space1then you should opt for Toyota Yaris as these features are available in it from the base trim and is backed by1Toyota's strong reliability and after-sales services. On the other hand, if rear seat space and boot volume is1your priority then City will a good option for you as it gives the feel of luxury sedan and it is breathing in1the Indian market from quite a long time. On the other hand, you can also go for Verna if you want a good1handling/riding and better fuel efficiency on highways. Do take a test drive in order to judge your driving1comfort.
