Q. Very much confused between Hyundai Verna AT and Skoda Rapid AT(both diesel). Comparing both top end models but to no avail! Please note that we have already used the Rapid 1st gen diesel and than bought 2nd gen(MT) by exchanging the 1st gen in 2016. Its just that the Rapid is so tried an tested and we know how strong the built quality is. We are considering the Verna because it has so many segment 1st features. The Rapid is now kind of so monotonous to us now.
  • Verna has a very good build ( sheet metal ) quality, though not in the league of European competitors. Styling , Interior quality, overall fit & finish, refinement, fuel efficiency, engine performance are the segment benchmark and last but not the least Hyundai's widespread reach is a complete peace of mind. Hands down is the best product in the C segment.
  • You go for a verna because verna's automatic diesel is also very smooth and easy for drive. And in verna you also have new experience....
  • Rapid has more maintenance cost in comparison to Verna and parts are not that easily available for Skoda variant.

Q. I was planning to buy Verna, almost booked it. But now since Ciaz is launched, I am confused on which car to buy. Can you suggest which one to buy in terms of safety, features & functionalities, build quality, engine and power? I am focused more on safety aspect and features. I go for the petrol variant by the way.
  • Verna is a Good buy.Please prefer anniversary addition SX(o) trim .Verna , It offers best of all worlds .It won in fact heart of the all auto pundits .Many months it displaced city interns of sales sold till now about 50,000 +vehicles in the market . Now Ciaz leads in sales due to new 1.5 l engine and facelift version . Verna gives you best features in style ,comfort safety and offcourse it has best style . Powerwise it is superior due to its engine .it is a tough fight between Ciaz and Verna .In many strengths and corners you have Edge over Ciaz . Hyundai service is good enough . Rear seat space is one area Verna scores less. Since Ciaz is new and maruti's strong backup may help the brand now to surge ahead . Till now in C segment Maruti could not farewell, now Ciaz is made it . Verna is a best buy .nothing to worry. In safety aspects in our view Verna is far better than Ciaz..

    Bought verna i bought verna next gen ex variant in 2018 purely as a family car.As it have 1.4 naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 98bhp.It is not at all performance oriented engine.It yas got decent pickup.Milage can he 13-14 in city and 16 to 18 on highways depends on driving style of individual.Ground clearance become problem sometimes when 4 or 5 people sit in the car.Overall good buy for 10.6 lacs on road.

    During last nine years my scoda rapid has covered 170000 kms and still going strong just last week we visited jaipur in a day and came back, Fuel consumption 18 to 24, Rapid has covered more then 900 kms many times in a day, Like visiting ghaziabad to bhopal, Ghaziabad to itawa and back, Etc, No major maintenance other then change of oil, Filters and tyres, Two front shock absorber changed, Ac condenser changed, Parts r reasonably cheap at dealer services station, Unfortunately diesel version has stopped other wise i will opt for scoda only.
