Q. I am looking for a commuter bike having best in mileage, looks, comfort, cheap/easy maintenance and long lasting durability. Can I go with Yamaha Saluto 125 disc, Honda Livo disc or TVS Victor disc?
  • You can deffinetly go for livo disk if yet you haven't buy any,bcz currently i had purchased new variant of it, it gives around 70-75kmpl and awsome pickup, so stable on road ,60-70kmph is like nothing ,but a little vibration over 70kmph ,yes it has a little gear box problem but you can overcome by pressing the clutch lever properly and change the gears only by using front end of gear pedal just like sports bikes having single side gear pedal, I don't know how but it works and it also makes you feel like a rider 😁
  • Except LIVO, you can buy any bike. Coz LIVO has inherent gear box problem. It's my personal experience. Livo has lowest resale value in the market. Check with bike evaluators and than take decision. All the best
  • If you like bajaj bike then go with discover 125. it fits as per your requirements. if not then go with livo.

  • I had also purchased livo disk variant last month ,and it gives 50kmpl at the first day and now after a month it's around 70-75kmpl and it's really so amazing to ride in a crowded road and leave the rush behind, awsome pickup and dashing look.I know it have some gear issues, it make a little sound while changing gears but you can overcome with this problem by pressing the clutch lever properly and change the gears only by using front end of gear pedal just like sports bikes having single side gear pedal ,i don't know how but it works and it also makes you feel like a rider😁
  • Don't go for Livo. I'm one of the owner of Livo bike. It's very problematic bike. No pick up, worst resale value, inherent gear box problem. Contact nearby bike evaluators, and mechanics and have their real time opinion.Don't depend on showroom sales person words nor online reviews.I tried to sell my Livo bike within a month after purchase but I received quotes less than Rs.45000 including official Honda pre owned showroom(Honda official best deal showroom offered just RS. 40000). I spent 73,000 on this bike. You can imagine now.All the best
  • I think both are good. but if one is going for looks and millage better go for livo. Anyway the difference is only 15cc. , which is not making a big difference if you are planning of using the bike in a crowded city 😉. I personally feel like livo is the winner.

Q. Which bike is more lasting among Yamaha Saluto, Honda Shine SP and CB Shine
  • This is a tricky question. As it all comes down to the manner in how an individual handles his bike and uses them. However, having had both the bikes I had sold my old Honda Shine SP for the Yamaha Saluto and it didn't disappoint me. Yes, it's pick up is on the lower side and sometimes one can feel embarrassed when others just zoom past you on the highway. However, if you are looking for a city bike that is easy to manoeuvre and save on, it is the bike to go for. It doesn't give the claimed 78 km/l mileage but if ridden within the economical speed limits it gives you close to 65-68. I ride almost 70 km to n fro work through the busy city streets as well as the open Rajarhat expressway in Kolkata. It has not been a disappointment. In fact, I am overwhelmed with its performance. My bike is now 3 years 6 months old and now I find my bike's chain often turning loose which signifies that I might soon have to replace them. In the 5 years 8 months of my Honda Shine SP, I had to change the chain twice.

  • Yamaha joined the 125cc bandwagon by riding in the new Saluto a few years back. The Yamaha Saluto with its sharp lines is an appealing motorcycle. But it doesn’t offer the same refinement as its other Yamaha siblings and only makes sense if you’re in the hunt for an affordable and stylish 125cc bike. While, the Honda CB Shine still remains a safe bet if you’re keen on buying a 125cc commuter. The simple styling and frugal and reliable engine have made the CB Shine a product that is hard to be ignored. Pricing is on the higher side and the styling wouldn’t appeal to all but it ticks all the right boxes of being a proper 125cc commuter. Whereas, the Honda Shine SP is one of the best looking 125cc bikes out there. The bike handles well, and the motor is refined and spunky. Overall, the Shine SP boasts good levels of fit and finish, and given Honda's penchant for making reliable bikes, is almost a no-brainer. All these bikes are good and durability will depend on how it will be maintained.
