The German carmaker has been selling luxury cars in India ever since 2004. Audi is now all geared up to launch its new A3 sedan in the country next month. Touted to be Audi’s most affordable luxury sedan, the A3 will compete with other entry-level luxury cars such as the Mercedes-Benz A-Class and the BMW 1 Series.
Unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, the Audi A3 sedan shares its features with its other siblings. The front grille, ORVMs, and other features resemble the other A-Series sedans. The grille is flanked by the Bi-xenon headlamps with daytime running LEDs. The front bumper gets large air inlets. Its side profile gets aerodynamic creases running across the length, while the stylish wheel-arches add to its sporty look. (Also Read: Audi A3 Diesel: First Review)
The Audi A3 sedan will be offered with, both, petrol and diesel engine options. A 1.8-litre TFSI direct-injection turbocharged petrol engine will churn out 180PS of power and 250Nm of torque, while the 2.0-litre oil-burner will deliver 140PS of power and 320Nm of torque. The petrol engine is mated to a 7-speed S-tronic AT, while the diesel motor is paired with a 6-speed S-tronic gearbox.
When the Audi A3 sedan goes on sale next month, it is expected to be priced around Rs 26 lakh.
