Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt Ltd will be launching a new 125cc motorcycle on April 17, most likely powered by an engine with Yamaha’s Blue Core technology.
Yamaha already has two 125cc offerings – the YBR125, an executive commuter bike and the sportier looking SS125, targeted more at the youth. The new bike, in all likelihood, will replace the YBR125, which has not quite been as successful as Yamaha would have hoped.
Yamaha’s current 125cc engine produces 11PS of power and 10.5Nm of torque, respectable enough for city commuting and even the occasional highway ride. Yamaha hopes the new bike will help notch up some sales numbers in the 125cc segment, which has not quite been Yamaha’s strong point. And with Blue Core engine technology, Yamaha will be looking to market the new bike with better fuel efficiency figures than the current offerings.
The YBR125 is available for around Rs 55,000 ex-showroom, so expect the new bike to be priced below Rs 60,000.
