The Bajaj Pulsar 200SS has to be among the most keenly awaited bikes to be launched in 2015. Ever since images of the motorcycles being tested with a camouflage emerged on internet, two-wheeler enthusiasts have been following its development ardently. Bajaj has been very secretive about the details regarding the motorcycle on the Indian front despite the fact that it showcased the motorcycle in various other international markets like Indonesia and Turkey.

ZigWheels has learnt from its sources that Bajaj Auto is all-set to launch the Pulsar 200SS in India and expect the bike to be launched officially by last week of March or early April 2015. Booking for the bike hasn’t been started yet as dealers have been asked to be tight lipped regarding the details of the Bajaj Pulsar 200SS launch. But it is expected that Bajaj dealers will start accepting booking for the Bajaj Pulsar 200SS soon after its India launch. The Bajaj Pulsar 200SS (Super Sport) essentially is the fully-faired version of the Pulsar 200NS which has been on sale in India for the past few years. The design of the bike will be similar to the Pulsar 375 SS that was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo in New Delhi. The styling of the bike should appeal to the youngsters who have a soft spot for super-sports style motorcycles. The Bajaj Pulsar 200SS will be the first full-faired motorcycle to be launched by the Chakan based motorcycle manufacturer as the Pulsar 220 had a quarter-fairing.

Bajaj personals haven’t restricted the changes made on the Pulsar 200SS on the cosmetic front and has they have tweaked the bike’s mechanicals also.  Powering the Bajaj Pulsar 200SS will be the same 199.5cc powerplant as found on the 200NS. What sets apart the Pulsar 200SS’s motor is the fact that it will be fuel-injected unlike the carburetted motor as seen on the Pulsar 200NS. Fuel-injection should result in crisper throttle response and avoid cold starting problems alongwith hiking the power output marginally. Power is transmitted to the rear-wheel via a six-speed gearbox. The frame, suspension and brakes on the Pulsar 200SS will be borrowed from the Pulsar 200NS as it is. But it is expected that the Bajaj Pulsar 200SS will be the first motorcycle from its stable to offer ABS as an optional extra.

Bajaj is renowned for their cut-throat and aggressive pricing so expect the Bajaj Pulsar 200SS will carry a sticker price of around RS 1.25 lakh. The pricing should give it an upper hand against its rivals like the Honda CBR 150R and Yamaha R15 Version 2.0. Watch this space for more news and updates regarding the Bajaj Pulsar 200SS.
