Out of 15 new models, 7 will be brand new models and 8 will be what Honda calls 'cosmetic new' - mostly design and style upgrades. Among the brand new models, Honda has already ticked off the new Activa 3G from that list with its launch. Know more about new Honda bikes on ZigWheels.com

2015 Honda Activa 3G

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has set sights on targeting 15 new models for the year 2015. Out of these, seven will be brand new models, the company says.

And with India contributing 25 per cent of global Honda motorcycle sales, it is imperative that a slew of new launches are in store for Indian consumers in 2015.

As part of the product line-up for 2015, HMSI has unveiled five new products, out of which three are refreshed 2015 editions and two are what Honda calls ‘brand new’ models, including the new third generation Activa scooter, now renamed as Activa 3G. The Activa 3G has been priced at Rs 48,852 ex-showroom Delhi.

2015 Honda CB Shine

Honda’s largest selling motorcycle worldwide, the 125cc CB Shine also gets fresh styling, new colours and Honda’s patented Honda Eco Technology (HET).

“India is and will remain Honda’s priority market globally. However, I consider 50 lakh units to be the turning point of Honda in India. In FY 2015-16, Honda is taking the next leap of business expansion. We will be bigger with new manufacturing capabilities and aggressively growing network in the hinterlands, better at customer satisfaction and bolder with our introduction of ever highest 15 new models in just one year,” said Keita Muramatsu, President and CEO, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd.

Out of the refreshed editions, what Honda calls, ‘cosmetically new’ products, are the Dream Yuga, Dream Neo motorcycles and an upgraded Dio motor-scooter with new graphics and a new logo and punch line – ‘Dio it your way!’

“Starting with the launch of the new CB Unicorn 160 in January 2015, Honda has re-activated the Indian two wheeler market with 6 new offerings in just two months. The new Activa 3G launched today takes the Activa legacy further with new generation styling while new CB Shine boasts of refreshed styling with new features like refined HET engine and optional CBS,” said Y.S. Guleria, Vice President – Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd.

He added that once Honda’s fourth factory in Gujarat comes up in January 2016, the company will be able to cross the 50 lakh mark in sales. He however, didn’t mention a specific timeline to reach that milestone.

“The aim is to consistently sell four lakh two wheelers a month and once we do that we can chase bigger targets,” Guleria added.

Clearly, Honda’s roadmap for 2015 is not only to offer the Indian consumer choices, in the form of all-new models and even mildly upgraded ones, but also with an eye trained on hitting the numero uno position in the Indian market. And that’s certainly good news for the consumer. For some of us, the wait for the launch of the Honda CB650F continues.
