The much anticipated new Ford compact sedan has been officially christened as the Ford Figo Aspire, while the hatchback is said to be called Ford Figo, as before. The new Ford Figo Aspire compact sedan will be launched in India by the end of 2015.

The Figo Aspire sedan is based on the Ford Figo sedan concept shown by the company during the 2014 Auto Expo and the production version has a strong resemblance with the concept. The Ford Figo Aspire sports headlamp and taillamp design similar to the show car, except that the tail light on the production car is not a LED unit as seen on the concept. The face remains similar with a new hexagonal grille which follows Ford’s new family design, as seen on the new Ford Fiesta.

Ford will call its new sedan the Figo Aspire in India

The top-of-the-line Ford Figo Aspire Titanium version will come with turn indicators on the OVRMs, fog lamps and 14-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the new compact sedan sports beige interiors with fabric upholstery, SYNC Bluetooth connectivity and a multifunctional steering wheel.

Other features include a unique device dock which allows the driver to store, connect and charge mobile phones and other gadgets. Apart from the two front air-bags the Ford Figo Aspire also offers side and curtain airbags as an optional extra.

Ford is offering the new Figo Aspire compact sedan in both petrol and diesel engine option, with a 1.5-litre TDCi diesel and a 1.2-litre TiVCT petrol.

Ford Figo Aspire will compete with Hyundai Xcent and Honda Amaze

The Ford Figo Aspire will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent and Honda Amaze and is expected to be priced between Rs 5 lakh to 8 lakh. The new will be built at Ford’s new facility in Sanand, Gujarat and the company is also planning to export made-in-India Ford Figo Aspire to its international markets.
