New Ford Fiesta to be launched in March

The 2014 Ford Fiesta facelift, displayed by Ford India at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo is slated for launch by the end of March. Some dealers in Mumbai and Delhi have already indicated that deliveries for customers who book the car will start by the last week of March. The new Ford Fiesta should be priced between Rs 7.5-10 lakh (ex-showroom). 

The new Ford Fiesta will offer slightly upgraded styling as compared to the one available now. The biggest difference on the exterior is the addition of the new grille which has been sprinkled with a generous serving of chrome in order to give the new 2014 Ford Fiesta a slightly more upmarket looks. The Fiesta also gets a new, redesigned interior with a reworked dashboard and seats.

The new Ford Fiesta will be available with both petrol and diesel engine options. The Fiesta will also get a dual-clutch automatic gearbox which will be paired with the 1.6-litre petrol engine. Although no plans have been announced yet, we think Ford India might also equip the new 2014 Ford Fiesta with its highly acclaimed 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine which incidentally also won the 2013 ET ZigWheels Engine of the year award. 

We did call dealers in Mumbai and Delhi inquiring about the availability of the current Ford Fiesta and almost all dealers confirmed the non-availability of older stock. Ford dealers also confirmed that there were no discounts to be had on the current generation car due to no stock coming in from Ford. The Ford Fiesta has never sold in large numbers despite being a very good car to drive due to its cramped interiors and high price. Ford’s resurrection in 2013 with the new Ford EcoSport might start to rub off onto the new Fiesta facelift and the soon to be launched sub-4 meter Figo sedan.
