Maruti Suzuki YBA Compact SUV Spotted Testing in India

Maruti Suzuki has been busy testing its forthcoming new SUV codenamed ‘the YBA’ for quiet sometime. The test mule has been spotted undergoing tests in the country, and images of the heavily camouflaged SUV have surfaced on the web.

Although, the new YBA disguises itself under a heavy polyvinyl covering, we can still figure out the overall silhouette of this SUV. The outline resembles the iM-4 mini SUV concept which Suzuki announced will be revealed at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show next month. The new YBA is expected to get a small grille with horizontal slats and angular headlamps. This forthcoming new SUV will also borrow some design cues from the Suzuki iV-4 concept SUV that was displayed at the 2012 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Reports suggest that the YBA will be available in both petrol and diesel engine options. A 1.5-litre oil-burner and a 1.0-litre turbocharged or a 1.2-litre K-series motor is expected to duty under the new Maruti Suzuki compact SUV YBA.

Once launched the new Maruti Suzuki compact SUV YBA will lock horns against the Ford EcoSport and the Volkswagen Tiguan. We expect the new YBA to come priced between Rs 5-8 lakh (ex-showroom). As mentioned above this forthcoming new SUV is expected to be showcased at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo.
