Apart from the V40 and the XC90, Volvo also has the S60 T6 petrol on the cards this year

With the difference in cost of petrol and diesel reducing, manufacturers have now started to focus a little more on their petrol offerings. Volvo too will join the bandwagon with the launch of its entry-level luxury sedan S60 in the T6 petrol trim in June this year. Currently, Volvo just has the D4 and the D5 diesel variants on sale in India.

The T6 unit in the Volvo S60 displaces 1,969cc from a turbocharged 4-cylinder unit. In this state of tune it pumps power of 306 horses and makes 400Nm of torque. All of this power will be sent to the front wheels with the help of an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Needless to say, the petrol trim Volvo S60 will look identical to the currently sold diesel one. The Volvo S60 too will follow the ‘designed around you’ philosophy. Up front it gets a redesigned bumper, Daytime Running Lights and a four-slat grille with projector type headlights on either side. The rear of the S60 has Volvo written all over it with the boomerang shaped LED taillights, the Volvo font on the boot and rectangular twin exhaust.

In the Indian market, the Volvo S60 will go against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the Audi A4 and the BMW 3 Series. The Volvo S60 will only come in the T6 variant and will be priced around Rs 35 lakh. Along with a slew of launches, Volvo has also been planning to expand its dealership and service network in India.
