After launching the Kawasaki Z250 and ER-6n recently, the Japanese two-wheeler giant is all-set to launch the Versys 1000 next. ZigWheels has learnt that Japanese two-wheeler giant will launch the Versys 1000 in January 2015. The Kawasaki Versys 1000 is currently kept on display at the Kawasaki dealership in Pune while bookings for the adventure motorcycle has commenced. Booking price for the Kawasaki Versys 1000 is Rs 5 lakh with deliveries for the first lot of motorcycles starting by end of January 2015. The Kawasaki Versys 1000 will be available in the Indian two-wheeler market only in the shade of black. The model coming to our shores is the recently face lifted 2015 version that made its debut at the 2014 INTERMOT motorcycle show in Cologne, Germany few months back.
The styling of the Kawasaki Versys 1000 is in sync with modern adventure motorcycles with a half fairing and large windscreen (adjustable). The 2015 Kawasaki Versys 1000 is based on the Kawasaki Z1000 and Ninja 1000 which are already on sale in our country and it will be the first Versys offering in the Indian two-wheeler market after the Ninja and Z series.
Powering the Kawasaki Versys 1000 is a 1,043cc liquid-cooled, inline-four motor churning out 121PS of max power and 102Nm of peak torque. The powerplant is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The Kawasaki Versys 1000 will be loaded with electronic goodies like, traction control, and two levels of power delivery. Braking duties on the Kawasaki Versys 1000 are taken care of by disc brakes at front and rear. The Kawasaki Versys 1000 employs adjustable USD forks and monoshock setup at the rear which is also adjustable.
The Kawasaki Versys 1000 will be pitched against the likes of the Suzuki V-Strom and Triumph Tiger 800 XC in our two-wheeler market. The Kawasaki Versys 1000 will be brought to our shores via the CBU route and it is expected that it would retail for Rs 12 to 13 lakh (ex-showroom). When we contacted Kawasaki officials to inquire about the Kawasaki Versys 1000, we got the politically correct reply of "no comments".
